Spear
of Destiny Although the Spear of Destiny set came out
after Wolfenstein 3D, it actually takes place in time before
it, and therefore it's really
a prequel.
The Story:
It's World War II
and you are B.J. Blazkowicz, the
Allies' most valuable agent. In the midst of the German Blitzkrieg,
the Spear that pierced
the side of Christ is taken from Versailles by the Nazis and
secured in the impregnable Castle
Wolfenstein. According to legend, no man can be defeated when
he has the Spear. Hitler believes
himself to be invincible with the power of the Spear as his
brutal army sweeps across Europe.
Your mission is to infiltrate the heavily guarded Nazi stronghold
and recapture the Spear from
an already unbalanced Hitler. The loss of his most coveted
weapon could push him over the edge.
It could also get you ripped to pieces.

Words from John Romero on Spears 10th Birthday - Sep 18,2002:
I still remember how fast we got this game together - it only took 2 months
of making levels and new monsters immediately after shipping
all 6 episodes of Wolfenstein
3D (and Wolfy's Hint Book, of course). Two months! And it went
straight to retail and sold
okay, although not having the magic words Wolfenstein 3D in
HUGE letters did hurt sales a little.
The box did say "A Wolfenstein 3D Adventure" on it,
but it was in smaller type.
Believe it or not, the first time we all saw the cool box for Spear was when
it was already shipped out to stores. We received a shipment
of boxes along with all the retail
chains and it was our first look at the design -- and we loved
it! In fact, we really loved
having our names printed on the sides of the box when you lifted
the LucasArts-like cover. |
