I am currently working on World War II 3D video game called World War II 3D Virulent Warfare. I have decided to have the original boss designs return in the game and also have an alternate boss design for the final boss. Two versions of the game will be released, one using the original design and one using the revised design that was featured in Wolfenstein 3D Endgame. I have just started mapping the game. The first three maps will consist of enemies and the last six maps will consist of bosses with death cams removed. Even though the bosses will look the same as the Wolfenstein 3D bosses, they will be different characters. The Hitler boss will still appear, but it will not be Hitler. It will be a Hitler fanatic that is obsessed with Hitler.

The secret level will consist of just enemies and no bosses. This game seems to be a good way to allow new players to experience Wolfenstein 3D for the very first time as a freeware game since the World War II 3D series consists of freeware games.

What do you people think about this idea? Are six bosses in a single episode mode a good idea? Episode 1 style levels can still feature bosses and still be similar to the original episode 1 levels of Wolfenstein 3D.

Is it going to have all the graphics changed? I donít think that people want to play a Wolfenstein 3D game with a long storyline if all the graphics arenít changed. I can't keep track of all your storylines.

Six bosses in a single episode or even more can be a very good thing if the levels are well designed for it.

If your mod has a great emphasis on the story the most important thing is to have the level design and level sequencing reflect the story.
Something I feel I did achieve with my mod 'The Tower' which has a very involving story line. Smile
That way you don't have to change the graphics if you otherwise want to maintain the Wolfenstein type of feel and atmosphere.

If you have a good story line then start imagining scenes and situations which describe it. Then transfere these ideas to the map. Concentrate on small portions at a time, make them good and unique. Then move on to the next.
You may have initial ideas about how many levels you want to have but you don't necessarily have to stick to that in the end. Let your ideas, and the game, develop while you work on it. And whether your game end up being big or small you will have created something unique.

One of the best compliments I ever got from a fellow Wolfer was that I manage to make levels appear to be bigger than they really are. By making something unique that's exactly what you achieve. Because the game experience will be completely new for the player.
