If this is anywhere near the quality of The New Order I will not be disappointed.

As I posted in another forum, I'm hoping for a arcade mode to play after finishing the campaing to avoid the constant story interruption, but I don't think it'll happen.
Maybe they expand the challenges concept from The Old Blood and make it a bigger feature with more maps and stuff.

Truth be told, I think that what the Wolfenstein franchise really needs is a Spear of Destiny remake. This just looks like a Fallout knockoff, which I suppose makes sense considering that ID is now owned by Bethesda. Then again, maybe FormGen doesn't want SOD remade. I don't think this looks terrible, but I prefer the classics, or at least just pre-New Order Wolfensteins. Odd as it may seem, Wolfenstein 3D was more technologically accurate for the time than all of the sequels. (Cybernetic technology... IN THE 1960s?) Along with all of that, the fact that Wolfenstein 3D was less dark and "realistic" in their presentation of Nazis made more people fine with playing it, because it wasn't insensitive to the horrors of the Second World War.

To be honest, I think that Wolf3D has a much more realistic presentation of the Nazis than any of the new "Wolfenstein" games. Just sayin'. Wink

I don't really see how that would be an issue, as FormGen was bought out by another company quite some time ago ... Smile

Very Happy I just meant that the new Wolfenstein games tend to have some nazi-prison-camp elements, which really make the games just dark and gruelling, in my opinion. Think as you will. [/quote]

So if FormGen was bought out by GT Interactive, which is actually Atari in disguise, and Atari files for bankruptcy in 2013... Yeah, I can see how still might cause a problem... However, GT published Wolfenstein 3D once, so the plot thickens....

It really depends on their contract, but when you're bought out by a company, the rights to your software - among other things - usually ends up in solely the hands of the buyer, and they can do anything they want with those rights without any consent from the former owner.

And to be fair, releasing publishing rights of Wofl3D and SOD to other companies ... it was only a temporary thing. And Id/Apogee was still the authority figure every step of the way.

Yeah, the software rights process is usually a lot less convoluted than the music licensing process. Thank God. Smile

Sadly, BJ's efforts in recapturing the spear are mentioned in one of the modern sequels, so probably no new SOD coming soon...
Nice to know that ID still COULD publish Spear of Destiny again if they wanted to, though that's kinda irritating: I bought Wolf3d on PS3 for 5$, and I'm sure that the community would like a re-release of SOD for modern systems, even if it was just included with Wolf3D.
[Weird fact about the PS3 version: The green is a bit fluorescent. After playing PC and coming back to PS3, the lights/barrels looked REALLY bright! If they remade SOD as such, I shudder to think what Trans/Wilhem/the Ubermutant would look like...]
