The two variants of brown marble look pretty different, but the pattern on them actually seems to tile better when the two types are placed alternately. Guess that's why official maps always use them this way...

My other recent discovery is basically the opposite of this one: gray brick 2 doesn't tile correctly with the 1 and 3 variants. It's a small inaccuracy but annoying when you notice it.

Another thing added to my checklist - Grey Stone #3 has a different stone variation on the north and south than it does on the east and west.

One for me is that Episodes 4-6 take place prior to 1-3. For some reason when I was young, I always thought the Chemical Warfare storyline took place after the death of Hitler.

You can move between menu options by pressing the key that matches the first name of that option. If multiple options start with that letter, each keypress makes you select the next one.

This brick... is abnormally short... I always thought they're all more or less evenly sized...

Is Wolfenstein 3d so rich in new things to discover, or am I obsessed? Probably both!

Maybe I've already posted about this, but one day, I suddenly noticed that two multi-colored bricks didn't quite mesh with the red bricks alongside of it; the shading was different. I've fixed this problem in some of my mods, but not all of them.

Is it called "Wolf4SDL" Because it's literally "Wolf for SDL"? Because if it is, that's another one to my collection of really obvious things that took me ages to think about. (I guess despite all my English language prowess, not being a native speaker is still a factor here too)

Do the Doom II secret levels count for this thread?

My misunderstanding was the German Doom II has different secret levels than the Wolfenstein 3D levels because of censorship. Actually, there are no German Doom II secret levels: https://tcrf.net/Doom_II:_Hell_on_Earth_(PC)#Germany

That's one of the reasons. Another reason is because Wolf4SDL was built from Wolf4GW, which used DOS4GW as "side arms" to make more memory available. Calling it "Wolf4SDL" was one of the simplest ways to make it more obvious that Wolf4GW was used as a building block. Geek

One thing I never noticed until now was that the edges of the "Wood N Nails" wall matches perfectly with the "Wood Paneling" wall (or whatever they're called). Thanks Military and your last Wolfenstein Intensifies screenshot for making me notice this. Very Happy

Actually, I slightly modified my version of the wood&plaster texture. The horizontal stripe on the top is light, dark, light in the wood&plaster, and dark, medium, light in the regular wood, so I just copied the top of the one texture onto the other. The difference is not too noticeable, though.

I thought I was just remembering it wrong, but no - in older versions, there were several instances of doors opening to non-floors from one side (tunnel blocked with bricks in E2L4, mandatory pushwall on E3L4, long series of doors on E5L1, exit are in E5L3 and maybe more). But in the later version, those were all modified to have a floor tile on both sides. Were such doors actually causing some issues? I've never encountered any, aside from the fact that such doors used to be silent in Wolf4SDL - just like doors opening to an invalid floorcode. But if it wasn't for that, I would never notice any issue.

I'm kinda surprised it took me so long to notice, especially on E5L3. It's extra notable there, actually shifting enemies to fit the extra thick walls.

That sort of structure is most likely to cause problems in your saved games.

6 things:
-I didn't notice for a long time that when you get killed by one of Dr. Schabbs' syringes that you turn into a zombie in the head's up display.
-I didn't know for a long time that the game was supposed to originally be called Castle Wolfenstein 3D. I didn't know this until I watched a Youtube video about a 1990s computer speaker where the man filming it listed the games that it's compatible with. Wolfenstein 3D was listed as Castle Wolfenstein 3D in his list.
-I didn't notice Wolfenstein translated seems to mean Wolf Stone. Is this accurate?
-I never noticed for a long time whether the Castle Wolfenstein property is supposed to be in Germany or in another place like Nazi occupied Poland for instance. But I did notice that Blascowics is supposed to be a Polish last name in Britain or America.
-I never thought about if Wolfenstein is a Jewish/Hebrew/Yiddish last name. I don't know if we're supposed to think about if Castle Wolfenstein was seized from Jews by Nazis and the Nazis kept the Wolfenstein name as propaganda or the castle as a war trophy.
-I didn't know for awhile that ID Software originally wanted a Star Trek holodeck game. I learned this from Neil DeGrasse Tyson on a panel on StarTalk in a Youtube video. I don't have the video link where I can quickly find it, but you'll have to take my word for it. I posted about this somewhere else in the forums and one of the guys here told me to read Wizards of ID.

I just realized again that the song in Spear Level 6 is "Into the Dungeons" from E2/E5L10 (thought it was only wolf secret music).
