People still sort of demand source code of TR mods claiming we have to - being based on open source codes.
On the other hand, in Wolf3D community, our of 1000s mods released since, I can count on my fingers source code releases, all done voluntarery.
Wanted to hear the legal state of this and community approach to source codes of mods. |

As far as I am aware, there is no stipulation in any of the applicable licenses that means you have to make the source code of the mod available. As much as I'd love to see how some of the features were implemented, I'd say you're well within your right to not distribute the source. |

Whoever this person is, they need to stop feeling so entitled. It's weird that they think they can just claim someone else's hard work. |

Maybe you guys at TR should think about taking a leaf out of John's book. After all, we'd still be using hex editors to mod Wolf3D if the source hadn't been released (though I daresay Chris Chokan would be quite happy! )
Just my 2 cents...
Linuxwolf has always offered coding assistance wherever possible, and if someone genuinly wanted to expand upon his work, I'm sure something could be arranged. But we have had way too many requests from people wanting our source code just so they don't have to put in any effort. That stuff bothers me a lot.
