Hi everyone.

This is my second post in this Forum. It take me a week to make a acc because of the registration bug. Embarassed

I am going to advertise my channel just this time, i think that talking about that a lot of time is irritant.

I started a twich channel one month ago to play old fps games. Started with Spear of destiny (the original wolf3d i had alredy finished). Fall in love with Wolf3D. Played mission pack 2 and 3. Searched for mods. Found one post of this forum with 400+ wolf 3d mods, organized and ready to play. So, i decided that my channel will be only about Wolf3D mods. At the moment i am playing Coffe Break.

I really want to join the community and add something to the Wolf3D scene.

You guys can find me in Twich with the Blazkowicz3 name.

Ps: Adam Biser, thank you very much with the help in my register.
Ps2: My english is not 100%.

Any particular areas of expertise? Like coding or spriting?
Not that it's needed, if you're willing to learn enough to try making significant community contribution - there are lots of tutorials and help here and not only here.

Fall in love with Wolf3D

We are all Wolf3D fans here, so no need to explain, heh Smile Are you from that era of games or a young guy charmed by gaming history and mods of old classics?

Beside this community, I know and am member of a few great modding communities for ID games (all have wonderful and active modding community and alot of VERY creative mods) - mainly "Wolf3D", "Doom" and "Commander Keen" (if you love classic platformers), less Duke3D but that one is neat too.
There is so much for you to explore in retro modding, heh. I envy you, playing those amazing mods for the first time...I wish we could forget all and retry fresh Smile

Neat. I'm "doomjedi" there....though not much of a twitch user.

You can also use moddb search for wolf3d mods, many good ones are there.

400+ is alot, there are threads here with lists of best mods (by vote), you can start with those. Unless you want to keep the best for last - or try random luck Smile

I have the exactly memory of my father booting Wolf3D for the first time. I am 29. Always loved to play the classic fps games. Started to search about mods more recently. I lurk the Doomworld forum a lot, and watch doom streamers playing mods too.

Oh, you have alot to learn, but don't be intimidated by that. No time pressure Smile Noone was born with modding skills, it's just another skill you learn and get better at.

So you are a coder? That's awesome.
If you're a coder, you can make indie games, you don't have to mod even Smile

...or you could help me with RaceCraft...no modding skills required Smile

As far as map designing is concerned, there's a lot of little rules to follow. I found this guide does a very good job at keep problems from showing up that you don't want happening - guards that don't "see" you there, walking through solid walls, things like that. Having a good guide will save you from a lot of frustration. Smile

There is more to mapping than passable walls. For me the biggest challenge is ammo/health balancing and such stuff. Sound zones etc...things you need to practice alot to get right. How to place guards so they will be surprising, how to avoid backtracking.
