I could have posted this in the source code section. But since it's a non-Wolf game, I decided it goes in The Howling Wolfers section.

Ex-SIERRA Game Developer is selling Original Source Code! - Leisure Suit Larry, King's Quest & More!:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7AgSapZAi8 (11 min & 56 sec)

I have heard of the MetalJesusRocks Youtube channel. In the 1990s, I saw Leisure Suit Larry advertising and I had completed the first King's Quest.

Al Lowe's Ebay page is https://www.ebay.com/usr/al_lowe and at this moment, 6 things are for sale. The lowest priced item is over $210 at the current bid. You'd need plug-in 3.5 inch and 5.25 inch hard drives from ebay or somewhere. You'd possibly need an Apple II for some of this. Or you'd need old PCs, DOSBox, or SCUMMVM.

Somebody in the video's comment section posted that whoever buys the source code needs to upload it to make it public.

I'd have been more interested if the source code for one of "The Incredible Machine" games was on that list, but the other games look ok too. (I know Al Lowe didn't work on any of the TIM games, but still...)

Guys, what is DOS-era game you'd most want to have source code of?

For me - it's one of the retro racers. Lotus III especially.

Probably Radix: Beyond The Void; the devs made the two Consortium games more recently, and during the backing campaign for the newer one they suggested they may still have it somewhere, so I should probably go pester them some more. Very Happy

What a great game. I actually played two races around two weeks ago for old times' sake. DOSBox handled it perfectly.

Awesome, excellent soundtrack.

With track constructor, very memorable settings, and great splitscreen.
My inspiration to trying to make retro racing engine now.

I know quite many good retro racers now (even console versions of Lotus 1 and 2 and 3 on emulators that I've tried), after the emulator era and me playing with my retropie. Outrun and such...Chase HQ, Top Racer etc, all epic in their own way, I love each for its own charm (even can admit Outrun music is better), but Lotus III will always have special place in my heart as it's what I played in my youth, for so many years.
Fantastic game, settings-wise, gameplay-wise. Visually inspiring.

For me, it's Tetripz. It always had problems functioning well under DOS Box, and it didn't run much better with Windows PCs. Most - if not all - of the code is in Assembly Language, so I'm pretty sure that it would take a huge amount of work to get it functioning correctly on anything other than DOS PCs.
