What is your favorite object(s) in the Wolfenstein 3D video game? My favorite object would be the knight statue. The knight statue is interesting because it symbolizes royalty just like the red walls symbolize royalty. I really think the knight statue symbolizes the Nazis fascination with the occult. Hitler thought of himself as a knight if I remember correctly.

Uhmm... I hope you know that this sprite didn't made it to the final release of wolf3d, because JPB ask about the original game. This one only appeared in the beta or alpha version of the game, but I guess every wolfer should know this.. Smile

My favourite object from wolf3d is the spear rack, it wasn't used that often in the game sadly.

The stove is probably my favorite of them all. I always liked the way it looked - the use of color, the shading, the detail, and also the fact that it looks so much different from the stoves we have today. It never appeared much in the original Wolf3D maps, so I never thought that it was overused.

Best original object is the 25 ammo box from SoD.

My favourite is probably the various wells; I like the way that they have subtle differences, rather than being all completely different

I was disappointed that Wolfram replaced the suits of armor with mirrors.

That is very odd, considering how true to the original game it otherwise is. The chainguns and extra lives also were removed, but that was to make the game more realistic. There was no reason to remove the suits of armor.

For me it's the Nazi flag. Some people will tell you it's the white column, given how I overuse it everywhere, but don't listen. The column is a great utility sprite, but the flag's where my heart is.

In Temporary Insanity, flags on poles have a special purpose. They are never in the normal areas in the game; they are used to mark super secret areas.

I always felt rooms were more special/significant if a chandelier was used. My other favourite is the vines since it is one of the few objects you can pass through at the screen's center.

Mine is probably the brown tree in the blue vase.

Best,

I really like the green plant myself. Something about the combination of colors - green, yellow, white - that just looks really good together. I'm also partial to the columns, mostly because they always bring a sense of mystery to a level. What could be behind them? Or the way they make unreachable objects enticing. I guess I felt that magic a whole lot more when I was a kid, but still.

The object uses the colors in such a way that the yellow stands out without the object being too much of one color. As far as objects go, it's an object that's a good example of well-balanced colors. I usually have to have other objects around something to balance out the colors a bit more. But usually, all I need is just the one green plant to get the colors evened out.

The suits of armor, green plants, and columns all hold a special place in my heart, but the hanging cage is great just for how strangely archaic the prop is. To my knowledge, the nazis did not detain prisoners in giant brass birdcages but the aesthetic of it adds a fun element to any scene.
