Why are dogs in Wolfenstein 3D always moving and do not sit? This can be annoying in some cases. Is there a way to make a dog sit in Wolfenstein 3D as in remain stationary until seen by the player? Would a deaf guard code work for this?

Guys in zdoom forum made sitting Wolf3D dogs quite some time ago.
And exploding TNT dogs as well.

The stationary dog objects are in wolf3d,
but if you put them on the map they morph the enemy beside them into a dog after they're alerted Very Happy

That's never really bothered me for some reason, I guess in my mind, they are sitting right up until BJ enters a room where they are, I know a lot of people use them for patrolling in mods, which would make sense. Who needs a guard dog that just sits around?

I never thought of this, but does a deaf guard floor code work for dogs?

Not well. The "Deaf Guard" tile doesn't change to a regular floor code for patrolling actors, so the dog doesn't respond like he's supposed to.
