Hello. I am interested to change the originals music from Wolfenstein 3D. But I don't known if exist any form to transform for example a .MP3 file to a .WLF/.IMF.
If you guys known if this possible or something else, I will wait for your response. Thanks for your time.
As resident IMF Ninja I can give you a few pointers
First off, there is no way to convert mp3s into imf the format is just too different. You need a midi based format for the synthesizer to read off of
The ideal method is to use IMFCreator. You can find midis on the internet or produce your own using Seikaju or Anvil Studio or something similar. Keep in mind that the fm synth is simple and canít handle as much as mid so keep your drum tracks simple and donít use a lot of instruments at the same time. It will take some experimenting in the instrument creator to get suitable sounds that you want, plus you can also import from existing adlib type music and instrument banks. This is how I ripped the voices from Nitemareís adlib music bank for my imf conversions.
Alternatively if you have knowledge of tracker programs you can use something like adplug tracker or even use Camoto studio to convert other adlib type music to IMF. This is difficult though because it requires rearranging and cutting certain channels and is difficult for the beginning IMF producer.
Keep in mind that depending on which port you use you have different max sizes for IMF files. DOS wolf requires that they are under 64kb, while wolf4sdl, wolf4gw and ecwolf seem to have unrestricted size.
If you would rather use existing music, we have a dump started on Zombie_Planís Wolfsource website.
