This makes me sad in a way...the fact that I missed the boat on this one. When I decided to make my TC based on "Blood", I did it for the enemies and settings, not so much for the weapons, but Blood has a couple really unusual weapons that would be fun to make "standard" in a TC. After HOS was already underway, I said to myself, "What if there was a TC where the hero fought with mystical weapons like the voodoo doll and the life leach (a staff with a skull with one eyeball still in the socket) and maybe the Ripper heart from Shadow Warrior. Forget about guns for a while...there are plenty of TC's with those. Sadly, I couldn't see BJ suddenly becoming proficient with mystical weapons, so I opted for the more traditional types from Blood. Maybe in a future TC...Cool

Any body know of any really "strange" weapons that have been utilized in existing TC's so far? This train of thought made me curious...

Dugtrio17 said that one day he was going to make a TC in which BJ used magical weapons like casting different spells on enemies and stuff like that. I agree that it would be a bit unusual for someone like BJ to be using "magical weapons," but it would be a bit more interesting to see than a bunch of weapons added from WW2. And BJ is a resourceful character, so why not? Plus, if you backed it up with a good story (which I know you're trying to do), than I see no reason why you can't include such weapons (unless, of course, your coder objects to it Laughing)

On another note, I'd like to see someone do a Spear of Destiny TC in which BJ, after grabbing the magical Spear, uses it as an actual weapon... That was an idea which I felt was missing from the original SOD...

Yes...I was amazed that BJ didn't get to use it...for some reason I was sure that he would. As for BJ using the voodoo doll and the life leach, I guess in that case, the power is in the weapons themselves, so regardless he should be able to use them. I haven't approached the idea of adding more weapons to the TC, because I don't know how difficult it is...I don't want to drive my coder nuts or anything...the weapons would be cool, though...something to think about I guess... Cool

Anyway, I always thought an unusual weapon would be one that does something other than damage, whether it be healing, player boosts, on even just stunning the enemy (which I'm actually doing all 3 of those for my TC), it'd be kinda interesting to see a "painless" weapon in a regular war TC. Smile

I just recently discovered the "Sorcerer's Wrath" yesterday. I found it while looking through the Dome news archives. Yep...definitely strange! Here's a glimpse of two new weapons featured in "Halls of Stonehenge"! They are the Voodoo Doll and Magic Staff, and they are the most powerful weapons in this game. Enjoy!



By the way, don't steal these...these animations are done differently than the weapons in Blood, so if someone swipes them, I'll know it! Apologies to those of you too honest to even think about it...

Part of me wishes I had gone "hi-res" with the voodoo doll, but then the blast from the magic staff wouldn't have touched the top of the screen...it looks good enough to keep me happy as it is...I doubt someone would not use a weapon because they thought it looked crappy...Laughing But it doesn't even look that bad...

Heheh...well, originally, the Magic Staff didn't have a blast radius like it does now...you had to aim, and be very precise, which was a pain in the butt. Now, though, all you have to do is wave it, and anything you can see in the screen will be damaged, including multiple enemies. The limited ammo, though, kind of discourages regular use anyway. The shotgun or tommy gun are definitely the best weapons to take for long term use...Cool

I think it'd be cool to see some historical weapons, such as swords, battleaxes, and poleblades. Each one could have their own power/speed/range in the Wolfenstein source code - I've already figured out how to do this (as have many others). And crossbows/normal bows would be pretty cool too.

I personally would like to see more melee weapons used.

There are a few older ones out there with those features I think...Adam Biser is working on one with weapons of that sort as well (well, the crossbow and sword for sure)...but I agree...that would be a refreshing change so see more of those...if done well...Very Happy

I started a matrix game and had some ideas like when you were neo the weapon was you hand and it instantly killed n e fin! but i lost that on HD Trash lol

The last time you had "cool weapons" in a released TC, they were spaceship sprites ripped from an old SNES shooter and looked really awful.

EDIT: Let's check out the new ones:

Shotgun
A shotgun. Woo.
machinegun
If you did anything to the way the machine gun behaves, I will pulverize you.
chaingun
Meh.
Super chaingun
Is there really a need for a super chaingun? The chaingun is already pretty powerful and will suck your ammo reserves dry quickly.
lock on gun
A lock-on homing weapon is a bad idea in Wolfenstein, where you face lots of hitscan enemies.
spreadfire cannon
This is going to suck. I know it.
railgun
This weapon would be TERRIBLE in the Wolfenstein engine. You want a weapon that can clear out a room, not pick off a single target with pinpoint accuracy. Could you imagine using this when six officers are after you? I can't.
charge laser
I'd rather just whip out the chaingun and blaze away. A charge laser is too slow for Wolfenstein.
knife....lol
Meh.
rocket launcher
I will probably use it to kill the bosses and otherwise never use it. This is more suited to a game like Doom than Wolfenstein.

My idea of a good weapon set is this:

Punch: Replaces the current knife and works the same way.
Knife: Does more damage and a backstab is often instant death.
Pistol: A pistol. Whee.
Machine gun: Your workhorse weapon.
Chaingun: For when everyone in sight has to die right now.
Assault rifle: Does more damage than the machine gun but rifle ammo is scarcer.
Fixed MG42: Never runs out of ammo and makes the chaingun look like a peashooter, but is stationary and can overheat.
Flamethrower: Not terribly useful, but it's fun as hell to watch those Nazi pigs fall in a screaming, burning heap.Twisted Evil

Actually, I am making a SoD TC (Spear Doomsday) in which level 20 is where you beat the fourthy boss, take the spear and get to level "31" which is level twenty with a secret elevator to got to level 21 and the fifth part of the castle. You get the spear for 5 levels. (Total levels: 31. 25 normal, 1 spear level. 5 secret levels)

Anyone got a good Spear weapon animation?

If you want to make one, base it on the original Spear form SoD, not from the Lost Episodes or anyother TC.

I will include you in my credits if you help with the animation!

ok executor, nice attampt, but your feeble weapons list cannot compare to mine. The super chaingun wastes enemies faster than the chaingun, in your case of 6 officers, the super would be more useful. Same with the lockon gun, who wants to take time aiming? this gun does it for you. What are hitscan enemies? there are no bugs in my code.The spred fire cannon would help you out in your '6 officer' scenario. Shoots in many directions. railgun? goes through enemies. picks off any in its way. charge laser? kicks more ass than any on your list. i would LOVE to see you TRY to remake ANY of the weapons on my list. I WOULD LOVE IT! And while your at it, figure out teleporting enemies(that is my pride).

Blah blah blah...how long does it take to lock on or charge the laser thing? By the time it's ready to fire, those officers will be blazing away. And don't get me started on mutants.

LOL !! just ask chris abou the weapons or see his post in beta breakers to read a first on account of how they work against enemies. the lock on gun goes right at the enemies! so its far easier! those officers will be toast before they even et the little wussy pistols out!
