OT - Well, according to the Apogee FAQ, Apogee did in fact sell copies of Spear for a while. The only thing was, the company only had a certain number of copies of SOD left when Formgen was bought out. They couldn't get more after that.
Your theory about the bidding war with Wolf3D is probably correct, though. At any rate, at least it wasn't as big a mess as the Tetris licensing situation with Nintendo and Tengen. |

Ok everyone.... Just a little update. We have 4 maps submitted so far and if everyone that said they would submit a map does, we will have quite the little contest for this month. There is still 20 days left to get your maps in if you wish to participate.

Yes, I got that.
I had another question. How did you make that shading switch? It's a bit difficult to play Wolf3d on a dark computer when there's shading. |

Think I've tracked down the Weapon #2 bug and how it works ... I have a level I've done where it shows up whenever you pick up everything in the first room before anything else. I'll have someone test out my theory to see if they can replicate the problem on their computer, since they're using the level in one of their own TCs, anyway.
Edit: Never mind. It only shows up if there's no level-ending elevator in the map. |

Tab-S will toggle the shading on and off.

Download the "BrotherTank's Base Source" ... You will find the coding for the toggle in wl_play.c file down in the CheckKeys function. That's exactly how I did it for the MapSet as well.

Question: When I make a level, shall BJ come out of an elevator or start right up a flat elevator? |

That is totally your choice Thomas. The only thing that you can't use or do is end the game with the end game trigger. Other than that, you've got up to 400 statics, up to 150 enemies, and up to 64 doors.
You choose the style, layout, decoration, and flavor (dark searching to fast furious fire fight).. Create a map in your own original style, or use the map submission to do or try something outside your regular style. Try something new or stick to an old standard. There is no theme or story...
All the maps will start exactly the same way.... 3 lives, Knife & Pistol, 8 Ammo and the players ready to go and test out each map to choose which they like best. So when a player finishes your level, they start the next one the same way they started yours. The position of inside or outside an elevator is not as important as doing the best you can to make people enjoy your map and want to vote for you.
Hope that helps...

BT - Will you let me know when you're taking submissions for Map-Month #2? I have a map sitting around that I created for nostalgia purposes, and there's not really a place for it in my TC.
Thanks. |

No problem Adam... And yes Ronwolf... got yours...
I was just hoping to bump some of those that voted yes to remind them that they only have 12 more days to get their maps in for this period.
Oh well... I await the entries... lol...

Only 2 days left to get your entries in for the first Map of the Month Competition for the month of June. Everyone can expect a new download (the entries) on or about July 1 (depending on how I feel after my MRI which I get at 7am that day).
So get your entries in.....

BrotherTank: There are a couple things I've noticed:
- When you get the machine gun, you can no longer switch back to the pistol "You don't have that weapon"
- Is there a way to shut off the shading completely for a level (meaning using a map code, not user toggle keys).. same with the cross hair...
EDIT: Also, when you die, the red goes off the top of the view area into the message/countdown area (at least it did when I noticed it this time). |

Yeah... I don't see why I couldn't do that... not a problem Adam... I'll add that to the exe's for next month.
Actually, because of the schedual that I've had this week, and into next, I'll continue to accept entries until July 3rd... I'm doing this only because I've got to be at the hospital at 7am on the 1st of July for an MRI, and with everything I've done this week, I need a few days to rest - As you can see by the posting time of this message it's once again another Friday night/Saturday morning that I haven't slept.... Wednesday I got the news... Yes... Torn Rotator Cuff in the right shoulder and am now awaiting another visit to the specialists office to go and book the surgery... and with the MRI on Sunday morning... I have a very strong feeling that it will generate another surgery, but this time on the left knee... Anyhow... that will also give me a chance to check out the things Adam has noticed and make any slight changes to fix any bugs...
So... Keep On Mapping.. July 3rd Midnight is the deadline.

Seems to be triggered only in incomplete levels. Try placing an exit elevator in the map, complete with an elevator door, and Floorcodes on both sides of the door. I remember that once I put the exit elevator in the map, the problem disappeared. But then, maybe the problem only shows up when the total number of doors is below a certain number ...

Well unfortunately I wasn't able to submit a level, I've been using all my free time to sort my website and I was hoping to finish with it by tomorrow, but I'll probably be finished half way through July. I might submit a map for July. |
