Although the game uses AUDIO, VGAHEAD, and GAMEMAPS code, it's actually built off the Commander Keen engine. Yet, I do remember running the Commander Keen IMFs in Wolf3D, and all the tunes played *way* too fast. The IMFs were compiled under the assumption that the musical playback would "refresh" every "x" number of tics. Obviously, "x" is a very different number in Bio Menace than it is in Wolf3D. Smile

As for the deal with AUDIO, VGAHEAD, etc., that part of the code for Bio Menace and Wolf3D was written by the same guy (John Carmack, if I'm not mistaken).

I have many fond memories of Bio Menace, but I'll admit I found some parts of Episode 1 quite annoying. The tune in Level 1 ("The City") really made the mark for me, though. Smile My favorite level of the game is probably "Trash Dump" from Episode 2. The in-level tune is lots of fun, and the map is crammed with delights. How often do you get to rescue Commander Keen? BioMenace has the same data file structures as Commander Keen 4-6. The Catacomb 3D games use these structures, too, and Wolf3D builds off of it. WDC supports viewing for those EGA games. I still haven't added the ability to edit the graphics in the EGA games. Sad

Please get to it soon... WDC would then be used for so much more than Wolf3D engine games. Imagine Commander Keen
meeting his grandpa B. J. Blazkowicz in a platformer. Smile Or Snake Logan firing his plasma gun on small EGA versions of Nazi guards... or Blake Stone dodging Dopefish. Smile

I was going to say, I don't see how a sidescroller utilized Wolf3D Razz It makes more sense to have the two of THEM build off another engine.

As for the game, it forever holds a soft spot in my heart. The first level with the destroyed city and the slime creatures is forever imprinted into the back of my eyes.
