I didn't find this a good TC at all... Bad graphics, not good level design...

4/10 Sad

The Best TC of all time. Period.

I guess people's opinions differ greatly about this one, though.

Yes, Schabbs2000 is amazing! Gary did such a great job at capturing that atmospheric, swampy mutant feel that was so good in Episode 2. I remember writing huge emails to him about how much I liked every level, especially levels 4 to 6 (man, what fun adventures... I gotta get back into playing this game again someday) - it's amazing how much space these levels took up as compared to his newer ones; they seemed so huge while you're playing. This is definately one of my favorite addons of all time; containing wonderful (and at times, damn near heavenly) levels and strategies that I'll never forget...

I guess me and you were the 2 people who voted fantastic on this one. Smile

It was nothing too special, to be honest. The level designs weren't all too great...but it wasnt horrible. I'd give it a 6.5/10

A horrible TC ?

You guys have lost your minds...

Schabbs 2000 is a BRILLIANT add-on for Wolf3D! It's a top 5 classic in my book (and it's hard to score that high for me).

There are a few quibbles I have with Gary's level design (particularly, odd static object placement), but even then I must say he's got a unique vision and for the most part his levels work brilliantly. There are hardly any new graphics, but I wouldn't have it any other way as it preserves the original Wolf3D / SoD feel. It was games like S2000 that spawned the classics today like Totengraeber and Spear: Resurrection, so you have to give it its props.

I do like the "cleaner" feel of "Assassinate Hitler!" a little more, but as Chris stated the swampy, gritty, slimey feel of Episode 2 is preserved and enhanced 10X over in these levels. I'm not fond of mazes, and there are a few in this game, but they actually WORK here.

Overall, if you like S2000, you know what I'm talking about.

If you don't like it, go back and play it again...It deserves a revisit. Approach it with a clear mind and take in the atmosphere...Some of these levels you can just smell the slime rotting on the dungeon walls...

I have to say I'm pretty surprised at the amount of 'bad' votes this has got! Oh well, I guess everyone likes different things. Personally I thought it was a wonderful adventure.

Wow, this was a long game. Nevermind the level count itself, it's the fact that every level is packed. Each level is different, and only a few time to you feel as though you've seen the same thing twice. Levels are slightly linear, and rarely confusing, but logical. There are some really difficult and challenging portions of this game, especially at one point being hunted by silent mutants in a complex maze filled with vision obscuring vines! Talk about claustrophobia. Plenty of clever tricks in this game will keep you on your toes. The only gripe I really have are some choices about ceiling and floor colours. A small bug also ruins a little fun, if you visit and complete the secret level, then each consecutive level you beat will tell you you've beat the secret level and then give you some bonus points. (That is no percentages.) Oh well.

A must for anyone who wants to build a wolf mod. And seriously, what idiot would make a wolf mod before playing a lot of them first??? :D

I give it a 9 out of 10. I really think the mutants popped up too early in the game, unlike totengraber where they were placed in logical locations throughout the game.

How can it be the best wolfenstein game if it isn't better than Totengraeber? Confused

Yeah! Can you get any more to the point? Razz

But actually on the topic (do I ever post on topic?) Schabbs 2000 is an amazing game. Not as good as Assassinate Hitler, at least to my mind; the later levels I thought lost a lot of that totally unique style that Gary had - with the pretty linear arrangements, innovative layouts, and crazy decoration - so I completed the last 10 or 15 levels a lot slower than I did the first 30 odd.

But a great addon, no doubt. One of the best.

8 average votes? For me this is to Gary just like Totengraeber is to BJ or TRTN is to Barry Christian. It's his best addon, all things considered, and earns fantastic for the levels alone, given it's a fairly shallow TC actually (not a huge number of changes).
