I was wondering what some of the tracks were... I've identified level 2's music as Zalbag's theme from quite possibly the greatest game ever, Final Fantasy Tactics, and level 5... I've had that midi on my hard drive for some time, but I don't know where it came from. Something like grave.mid...
Anyone else know any others?

Hrmmm. I think Level 7 is from the "26 Pineapples Ate My Baby" soundtrack. Laughing

Yup. That was one of the 6 tracks I got around to converting to IMF (I usually aimed for the longer ones, since they can have a more lasting effect while playing). Seems a little odd to start off with those calm organs in a level full of action, where flames are coming towards you at the start, but I guess it works ok for the dark cave-like atmosphere. I was looking through the mall a few weeks ago, and noticed that there is actually a band called Suicidial Tendancies (in the metal category). Haha, interesting.

Ah, ST rock Smile Used to listen to them a lot in my youth. They're usually categorized as metal, but I'd call them more punk / hardcore with a kind of metal edge. Worth a listen if you're into kind of grindy, noisy, chaotic stuff, though I haven't boughten any recent albums since I usually can't afford new albums too often (matter of fact, the new bass player in Metallica was originally in Suicidal Tendencies).

Re: EOD music, I was curious where level 4's music came from. Catchy little number, that one.

There're some sweet tunes in the mod, no doubt. Right about now, I don't remember all of them, but I recall my favourite -or one of my favourites- was that of level 38. I don't know if it fitted with the overall atmosphere of the level, but it certainly felt somehow different from all the others. I don't know, it just felt different, and that kinda attracted me. More or less the same happened with Aliens of Gold's tunes: The one for the first level of episode 5 was great. Don't ask me why, but I loved it. Same reason as with End of Destiny's level 38's: It just felt different from the rest.

Ariel.

YES!! I'm not the only one who LOVES that level... I could play it all day, over and over again... and the music was great, my favorite in Blake Stone and probably one of my favorite tracks of all time. I was disappointed as to how poorly it converts to MIDI. Anyway, I'm straying off-topic... maybe it's one of the musics in the game. My "something just went over my head" senses are tingling...
But I wonder if AReyeP really is a Final Fantasy fan or if he just found those MIDIs lying around... Though FFT has little to do with Final Fantasy, but that doesn't mean it's not an utterly kickass game.

in speaking of the music... does anyone know why wolfextr doesn't work for EOD? it worked for me for resurrection, but for eod, it just says"unexpected end of file". was it coded differently for copyright protection? Confused

I need to play that game with the sound actually turned on I guess...I didn't notice that there was FFT music in the game. Damn! I thought I was the only one who used FF music in my Wolf mods. I think there are five different tunes from Final Fantasy Tactics in "Operation: Mutant Strike" alone. I'd never considered Zalbag's theme as a possible Wolf tune though (now I'm glad for that). I guess I better play through the game and make sure that none of the FF music in OMS2 is used in EOD, or it'll look like I ripped it off...

Huhn...so much for that theory...I replayed some of the levels to see the tunes used in them, and just revisited level three...I think that tune is called "Shinra Wages a Full Scale Attack" or something like that...it's a Final Fantasy 7 tune (a very cool one at that). I used that some tune for the first levels of Episode 3 and 6 in "Operation: Letzterschutz". The endings of the version in EOD and OL are a little different, and the EOD one is a little bit slower I noticed, but the tune fits both very well. Guess I should start listening to the music in the levels I'm in now, eh? Very Happy

I recognized a couple of FF-tunes in there. Such as the first level is from FF2, and the mirror-secret-level-thing is from FF4. Also the "Shinra wages a full scale attack" on level... what it now was. Very Happy

I thought I mentioned that one already...it was on the "flame tunnel" level I believe. I used that tune (converted slightly differently) for E3 and E6 of OL...good stuff...

Speaking of Music, what was the song being played when there was a maze, full of destructable Pacman Ghost mutants? (Where there was also some sort of a Grim Reaper in it.)

I swear that song was literally very catchy!

EDIT: Oh yeah, and it was in Spear Ressurection.

I thought the level 3, 4, 7, 12, 13 midis were cool, as the streets midi never seems to fail me. The original E1M1 midi from Wolf 3D sounds like a mission impossible theme. Razz That E5M1 midi from Blake Stone was my very favorite midi too. Too Cool I would have to say my 2nd favorite midis are either E2M9 or E2M10. Cool

That song is the warp music from Rise of The Triad, also called "Fish Polka". The reason for that name involves dopefish jokes. Smile
I loved the boss music on Super Clone's level in SR, the one from Doom. Mr Green

I could almost swear the the 2nd challenge level (a.k.a level 36) midi is from Duke 3D E1M4. Cool I think it's a pretty catchy one too.

My favourites from Spear Resurrection & Spear: End of Destiny are:

- Hiroshima Hyoto's theme Very Happy that stereotypical Japanese song is so catchy and enjoyable, I never cease to be amazed by that.
- The music at Baron von Schmitt's level, before you would enter the spirit world, it's so ominous! When listening to it, you'll soon get the feeling something TERRIBLE comes. The same song can be heard in Secret level 4: The Panic room.
- Level 10: Tribulations
- Level 12: Vault of Death

Anyone knows where can I find these songs in MIDI? Or who were these songs' original composer? I'm looking for the "Hiroshima theme" a long time, but I don't have the slightest clue about its title, or composer Sad Can anyone help me with these tunes?

I found it, thank you Smile I prefer AReyeP's remixing though, I think it's a lot better, has less repetitions.

As for the other songs, I still don't have clue about them.

AReyeP released Midi versions of several songs some time back. Level One from "Spear: Resurrection" wasn't one, though; I can say that most IMFs not from Midis were from "Blake Stone: Planet Strike".

If you examine the AUDIO files of EOD in WDC, you'll even find several tunes that were never used in AReyeP's mods. Interesting stuff to listen to. Smile

I agree... was just listening to these again tonight too (using EOD: Editors Version). Interesting stuff.

Here's the WDC tracks I helped AReyeP convert/extend in there, if you're curious: 22-24, 30, 33, 37, 38.
Great memories for sure. Can't wait for the SDL version by KyleRTCW to come out so I can hear them even more! Very Happy

Oddly enough, I enjoyed that track far more than "Smells Like Teen Spirit". Probably because the song had some classic, old-fashioned touches; the "Free" ("All Right Now") influence really showed through in this track. Smile
