I am trying to do 2 things:

Adding walls to chaos edit:
I know how to add the spear walls to the VSWAP, but when I do that, it changes the order, and so everything after "Wood Panel" is different.

What I want is for chaos edit to have all the original wall choices for Wolfenstein 3d, but adding the spear walls to it.
I'd like to have "Blood Wall" right after "Landscape"

and lastly, I want to put the Aardwolf sign in the game, I want the choice to be right after "Ammo"
What number would I put into the list.txt file?

I'm sorry if it's hard to understand what I am saying, many of you have had problems understanding me in the past Laughing
sometimes it's hard for me to find the right words and how to express myself.

You'd insert new walls when you're on Wallnum 31 (displayed on the bottom right).

50. The machine gun (Weapon #3) is used in this slot.

Correct! That's because stuff after 049 are not official Walls, they're just placeholders until you add something there.

Well... Red Brick is already after Landscape, in both wolf3d and spear.

It'd make more sense to just add them all after 049 (Gray Wall / Hitler), like Spear does:

51,"Stone Wall 2",
52,"Stone Wall / Flag",
53,"Stone Wall / Wreath",
54,"Grey Concrete(light)",
55,"Grey Concrete(dark)",

This is the place where the Aardwolf sign was originally in the 1,545,400 VSWAP.WL6 versions, so it makes more sense.

And just replace the bones picture (Sprite 43) after the red flag with the Aardwolf sign, it's a duplicate/dummy pic anyway.

Chris, what I meant by "Blood Wall" was the wall that is on the last boss level against the Angel of Death in Spear of Destiny, not the red brick

Whoops, my bad. I just meant that if you add the Blood Wall after Landscape, it would either erase or shift over Red Brick, thus not matching with the Spear tile order. I guess I'm not very good at explaining things either. Laughing

Anyway, hope you get the Spear walls and Aardwolf sign working. If you have any more issues, feel free to post them.

Ok, here is another question,

I want to add ALL Spear of Destiny walls not in Wolfenstein 3d.

I want to have them on the "Walls" tab for selection, but I don't want them to replace any of the other choices

How would I do this, and what are the numbers for their definitions then?

I don't want to create a new topic, so let me write here:
I was exporting and importing some pallets to Chaos edit. When I opened Chaos next time I get a message with some Windows errors. What's wore, when I saved my project Chaos informed me that "Chunk 149 has an illegal compressed size!". I doubt doing anything with palettes has to do anything with those problems, but it stared happening after that. I didn't have any problem like this before.

This was already answered here:

And just delete the original 50, 51 and 53 "Fake door" walldefs from ChaosEdit... they're not used in wolf3d anyway.

Are you wanting to convert the images to 64x64, or are you trying to create a 128x128 VSWAP?

I think I made my question clear enough.
Yes, I want 128 x 128 resolution, not resize or cut to corner what Chaos is suggesting.

I don't know how much needs to be explained here, because I don't know what you don't understand, but I'll try:

- ChaosEdit isn't "suggesting" anything. Your vswap needs to be in 128x128 format to import 128x128 pictures
- ChaosEdit doesn't have hi-res pictures included, you have to find some yourself and add them in
- Importing means loading something externally (i.e. Adding your own bmp picture into ChaosEdit)

Does that make sense now? Now go pick "resize" or "cut to corner", then go find some 128x128 images and import them.

Honestly the only thing I don't understand here is what was the point of your post.

The thing I was asking about was how to add hi res textures to library of graphic files I can use in my project.
I don't know what part of this question need explaining.
Or is just my English bad enough...?

Yes. Are you saying that your VSWAP is already converted to hi-res (128x128) and your new pictures are 128x128 256 color, and it's still asking you to resize when you import? If so, it sounds like you have a bug... maybe try a different editor like WDC.

And the main point of my message was this:
- Most VSWAP code does not work with a mix of 64x64 and 128x128 images! It works best if you convert it all to hi-res first.

You still did not acknowledge, whether you're aware of this or not (which leads to 2 separate paths for an answer)... Question

By the way, you probably could have a vswap file that has a mix of original 64x64 and new 128x128 textures, but I don't know if any editor supports this or not, so if you really wanted to have both types, you'd probably have to learn a bit about the VSWAP structure, and arrange it yourself by merging each page's data and headers with a hex editor or by making your own program to do it... and in-game you'd probably have to adjust the hi-res #define textureshift (and a few others relating to it) in the source to a variable that switches between 6 when PageSize is 4096 (64x64) and 7 when PageSize is 16384 (128x128) to accommodate each type, but it could definitely work if you're ambitious enough to arrange all the vswap data yourself and do all the extra code for it yourself. After all, there was a point in time when there was no code or editors for 128x128 textures at all, so anything is possible (I think there are a few addons where people have gotten 64x64 walls and 128x128 sprites to work together already, and/or vice-versa).

In the left corner there's a button called 'Toggle HiRes', you need to press that one first before importing 128x128 graphics using Chaosedit.
