You know in those old westerns where the good guy and bad guy would just stand there, facing each other, and then both would draw out their revolver, one would die the other the victor?

Now, what would you think of this if it was used as a boss fight level? You have to unholster and fire at the right time or else you lose?

Hmm sounds like a quick time event (QTE), and at least in nowadays games, it sucks.

The duel idea is intersting however, but how to realize it the good way, that's the question.

I'd say presentation is part of the key to making it work. You also - of course - would have to "guard blocker"-out the other enemies so they can't barge into the scene and ruin the moment. Razz

Having the boss simply say "Draw!" would be an exellent indicator as to when you should shoot, and it's deliciously traditional as well. But then - what would be the penalty if you simply fired at him too soon? You might do a "Wild Gunman" (NES) approach, where this large gang opens up the windows, and they all shoot you down at once.
