The database, and our storage requirements for the forums were being consummed with outdated messages. As such, the Pruning feature has been enabled for ONLY the Howling Wolf - General Area.

It is set to prune threads that have gone stale and help us with the overall overhead required by these forums.

Thanks for your understanding,

Management! - Areyep, BrotherTank, MCS.

Mmmmmm, database pruning - great idea. You might want to eventually limit each section to 2 or 3 pages with the most recent posts if this forum gets big enough (I think that would be more fair even now, because people can just post topics in other sections if they ever wanted them to last forever).

I see your idea though, as most of the 'thought of the moment' comments which don't have any lasting value for future wolf3d forum visitors come from the Howling Wolf section - so it would certainly be the best place to start slicing off some text-moolasho-dusty-goodness when trying to save room. Yeah, that does sound like a good idea (removing old posts from Howling Wolf that aren't being discussed anymore)... but I think it would be best if you left posts in Coding Crackers, Wolfenstein 3d, and Audio Adventures can often be helpful for "newbies" to check up on old topics rather than post the same thing again.

Cool

Hmm... I see that my posts are lowered by 100... does that have something with database pruning enabled? Neutral

Yes, it does... The post counts were resync'd to match the posts within the forums.
