How do you increase the default map size for a wolfenstein 3d level? In Chaos Edit, you have a set map size that can be used. Is it possible to make a SDL mod and increase the size of the map? How can this be done if it is possible?

It's done in the source code of the game. But to edit your maps, you need to have an editor that supports maps above 64x64. IIRC, WDC and HWE support the bigger maps.

Engine-wise, I believe the only thing you need to change to increase the mapsize is 'mapshift' in WL_DEF. Note that changing the map size this way still only allows the size of the map to be square and have a power of 2 size (for example changing mapshift to 7 will make it use 128x128 maps). Editor-wise, Tricob is correct, currently only WDC and HWE support a non-64x64 size, although if I ever get around to putting my editor together that'll support different sizes too.

Apologies for going a bit off topic, but how many known mods are there that actually use non-standard map sizes? (either larger or smaller than 64x64)

Thus far Leiche Soldat and Operation Serpent are the only two I can think of - there's probably more that have been made but it's 3AM here and those are all I can remember Razz
