If a mod is too difficult for you on hard such that it's hurting your enjoyment, are you willing to switch to a lower difficulty level? |
Yes, I'll drop it to medium with little hesitation. |

I'm not totally unwilling to lower the difficulty, but I'm very reluctant to do so. |

No, I will either keep playing on hard anyways or simply stop playing the mod altogether. |

If you're playing on hard and find a mod too difficulty (generally, difficult in a way or to an extent such that you aren't enjoying it), what will you do? Are you willing to switch to a lower difficulty or do you basically play either on hard or not at all? |

I voted "drop it to medium with little hesitation." This is a great idea for a thread as I wonder what the community thinks on this. I have heard of some people who won't play below hard and if its too difficult, they just won't play rather than lower the skill level. I personally think that when designing levels, its preferable to correctly balance the skill levels instead of toning down "Death Incarnate" to accommodate less skilled players. There is nothing wrong with making a mod incredibly difficult on Death Incarnate and if as a player you aren't skilled enough, lowering the skill level to medium. |

Although I voted "I'm not totally unwilling ...", it more relates to overly tedious gameplay rather than overly difficult gameplay. When you have to be conservative to the point that it slows down the gameplay to a crawl and never speeds back up, I usually crank things down a notch. |

I voted for "No, I will either keep playing on hard anyways or simply stop playing the mod altogether", except that I won't stop playing the mod altogether, I'll generally just push through it (or, if absolutely necessary, cheat). |

I vote reluctant to change it but if push comes to shove but I find myself still wanting to play the mod because [x] reasons I'll drop it a notch. If it's STILL too difficult and/or frustrating to play then I suppose it's just not for me. Which sucks if the mod looks cool and the difficulty/gameplay/map design is affecting it all in a negative way. |
