As WSJ said, they are available when you purchase the "Wolfenstein 3d" package from Apogee, or Yahoo, or any other place that is selling the package. It comes with Wolfenstein 3d, Spear of Destiny, and both Mission Packs which have become known as the "Lost Episodes".

They were not lost, although as "themannwhoknows" said... You probably don't want them... Ie... They are not good.

As for asking for a place to download them... You are asking for members of the community to participate in "Pirating" software. That is against the rules of these forums.

So... As of this post... This thread has Ended. If you feel the need to find them, you might want to ask someone in a Private E-mail...

Thanks!

Go to the www.3drealms.com site... Go to Wolfenstein... and purchase... it comes with the "Lost Episodes"... as people call them... In actuality, they were two seperate add-on packs to Spear of Destiny. I'll post more information about this on the Diehard Homepage... Which is still under construction... Sad

Is the guy who made the lost episodes still alive? Does he take credit for them? I'm just curious...I know the gang who did the original Wolf3D is still out and about, but does anyone care about the Lost Episodes guy? Smile

LOL, you just said the magic word: care. Cuz the L.E. suck big time. Smile

J/K. Naw I have no idea who FormGem were or even if they're still around. But I can almost guarantee you'll have a nice informative response before too long.

Yeah...I've finished them before too...they do kind of suck, but someone put some time into some of the art...for that alone I give them credit...(I'm not so sure about the bats, though...) Laughing

I've heard the LE sprites are good for novice sprite editors. I might just look into serious sprite editing.

Not only for novices (WSJ games..) Smile

They are nice, but the boss animations kind of blow...specifically Submarine Willie and Professor Quarkblitz...if you ever look at them closely in Flo Edit (or Wolfedit), they just look really distorted and strange during certain sequences...worst of all, I've found that Submarine Willie for example uses like five different shades of blue that all look EXACTLY alike, and some are used for only one pixel per frame...I don't know how the coloration was done, but it's a b**ch to redo with any real quality...unless of course the end result is

Even there, you'll notice (or maybe you won't) that I've done one color to replace three or four of theirs in several instances...it's just not worth the trouble to replace every pixel exactly. That having been said, though, the guard and enemy sprites are good for beginners...especially if they're beginners looking for flying bats with guns to edit...Laughing

Do you use old-but-good pix-by-pix method of colour replacing? Razz

#16: Re: Lost episodes Author: Majik MonkeeLocation: Nebraska PostPosted: Thu Aug 28, 2003 6:35 am
    —
I do...basically, I lay out in a line the color that is originally in the image, one pixel at a time from lightest to darkest, then underneath that I do the same thing with the colors I wish to change to. As I find ones that are very similar, I just stick them under the color they are similar to, and they get replaced with the same shade being changed to. I think that's what you mean...Smile

YES! After years I found someone that takes care and shows the incredible passion with artwork instead of using automatic PSP stuff! You are DA MAN! Laughing

Hey!! It's cool to find someone else does the same as I do...I always believed it, but never found anyone till now! The way I see it, hard work went into original design of the characters, so hard work is merited if you want to do a good job color changing. And once you've gone to the trouble of laying out your color changing "bars", the rest is fairly simple frame after frame...I've never used any other method!

Hu-uh... yeah.. but colouring guard sprites like that is hardwork so it's better to use PSP... btw, do you want to chat?

I remember being like you. Reading off B.J. Rowans' site (in an faq for making a mod) that there were two completely unpassed (by me) wolf3d games. I INSTANTLY ran a search in google and all it came up with was a mod from Mr. Lowes site that only mods the wolf3d demo. so, I searched the pages at angelfire.com and found a possible file (the search was a completely random thing on my behalf). so I downloaded it. I still don't know if it was the real thing but I can tell you it was enough. the blueness of it all and those weird backgrounds and bubbles(?!) can turn you from glad to "damn! i wasted 2 hours searching for this!!!???". Though, some of the graphics could be useful, allaround, a pretty (well, moderate) poor job on FormGen's behalf. I'd give it around 5.5 ot of 10. Might aswell make your own quality one. Anyway, that was my $0.02c. Post y'all later...

Um...yeah...blue is the theme of the Lost Episodes...even the guns are blue...I mean, who ever heard of blue guns before? They looked pretty good otherwise (KyleRTCW did a nice set of recolored versions of these guns that are gray instead of blue that's on the Image World site). Anyway, there's a lot of blues, ugly grays, and annoying intense reds and whites in the game. The color atmosphere definitely isn't the game's strong suit. Actually, I'm not sure what is...I mostly played for the new bosses and enemies, which are okay to look at for a while. Not worth shelling out more than like $10 for, and if you've played one set of the LE, you won't want to play the other unless you're super bored...

Any one know anything aboout Ultimate Challege's (Mssion 3) bosses and story. Don't tell me they are the same bosses cause RtD was horrible. I've tried Google but it seems that the LE are so bad that the farthest the info goes is RTD. And it is a horrible add-on itself. Maybe a modified .exe could have been used but Rolling Eyes hey, it was dumb work.

@Majik Monkee Yeah, some of the walls are very good.

The LE were designed before the source code was made available for editing, so I don't think a new exe would have been legal at the time. Sad to say, but Ultimate Challenge is all the same bosses and enemies as RtD, which is stupid, and was half the reason I disliked it. It was like, "Hey...I just killed you, didn't I?" My younger brother was working on an add on that was going to be essentially tUC, but with new bosses added in place of the ones they have, so it would be a "fresh challenge" if you'd already played RtD. It didn't look like there would be much demand for it at the time, though, so he put the project on hold...Smile

Do you know where I could see some version of tUC story or info on it? Or maybe a site with info?

http://www1.linkclub.or.jp/~clubey/other%20platforms/pcwolf.html
http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Bridge/4271/lostepisodes.html

Here's a couple of sites with some general info...the second one, though, has some links to even more sites with a little more in-depth information. As for the storyline, though, there's been an ongoing search for a copy or reproduction of the manual for the LE since I started visiting here, but thus far, no luck...hope this helps...Very Happy

Hmmm...well, most of the links found on that second page don't work anymore, but the page itself does, so that's the main thing...Laughing
