DieHard Wolfers -> Wolfenstein 3d

I was wondering if anyone knows a good free website that I can use.

I've been using my blog site but I can't host my mods on there.

I only need it to host my mods, some other pictures and avatars and stuff as well as be able to use it for blogs, screenshots and general updates on my mods as I go along.

I want one thats not filled with advertisements or anything either on it or linked to it as well - thats just plain annoying for everyone.

If anyone can let me know of any that would be great - Thanks.

Dean

Okay. I probably figured that since you started the thread a couple weeks ago...

*BUMP* - Ok, so I have website space but never really got around to setting up the website and stuff, and learning how to do it all. I have recently though started blogging about Wolf and what I've been working on at my old blog site, as I can basically do everything there I was thinking of doing on a website. I've spent a fair bit of time upgrading and redesigning it.

If anyone is interested you can read it HERE or you can click on the WWW link in my signature.

It's been updated bi-weekly at this time but I expect that to drop back to weekly or so.

As soon as I'm sure my cable internet will be here for a while, I'll probably run a small website of my own. It's kind of long overdue, as I couldn't find one link to the installation files for Dev C++'s SDL libraries; absolutely all of them had become bad links. Confused Plus there's some Freeware and Open-source stuff I have that's *extremely* hard to find working links for ...

Re: HOS review. Yeah, I agree with everything you say here, Dean. That's one of the reasons I've been so interested in porting the game to SDL; the walls and sprites will be much easier to make out in 640x400 graphics.

Dean, after reading the review I was wondering if there is any mod/mapset you ever played that you consider to be a 10? I agree with your review, but it's just something I'm curious about. Smile

I must say that I'm shocked by your review Dean! Very Happy I never though someone would say that sod reloaded is that good. I'd say graphics and coding wise we succeeded very well but I screwed up on mapping and I'd say that 7 or 7,5/10 would be more fitting score. Wink

Thanks Megabyte but I truly did enjoy every level of this and think you and Codetech did an outstanding job! I think you should be very proud of what you made. Smile

@ Ron - Yes, I have a review coming up soon that's a 10. It's probably not going to be too big a shock what it is though!

I've learned over the years that I sometimes I set goals in my creations, only I find that no one notices whether I achieved those goals or not. I'd have something against one of my creations because I didn't achieve the goal I'd set out to do, but no one knew what my goal was, so they enjoyed it regardless. Very Happy

It sort of reminds me of a sci-fi thriller I wrote called "Zero Hour". I thought it was very by-the-numbers, and had very little in it at all that I thought was even slightly unpredictable. Imagine my surprise when a friend of mine said that - when she read it - she never had any idea what would happen next.

I think what happens in cases like these is that we fall short of achieving one goal, but we've achieved a different goal and haven't realized it. This is part of what makes creating things -IMO - such an interesting hobby. Smile

For me I review solely on a players perspective. I know how to make mods and what goes into it and it would be very easy to break down a mod to it's essence and dissect each little thing that the creator could have done differently or better but that just takes the fun away from it for as someone who just wants to play a mod sometimes and not be constantly thinking about how to make it better.

So I guess that way it's very possible for me not to see the things that other creators feel about their mod.

I'm know with my own work I feel afterwards that was always possibly something I could have done better but receiveing feedback on what people thought can sometimes be much better than I had anticipated. I guess as long as you feel proud enough to release it publicly at the stage it is thn you must have some pride in it.
