Just post any WIP, screenshots, videos, code, images, etc. that you feel doesn't need its own topic here. I know there's the artist archive, but can we post sprite work here too (WIP sprites or single imaged ones)?

Here's what I can contribute so far:

Nice idea. I think I'll aim to make one 16x16 map a day, and edit this post with picture links to them.

Oh man, I could litter this thread with all the corpses of projects I've started and never finished, either out of disgust or just plain laziness. The last time I worked on anything was I think back in mid 2011, and it was some project that was going to focus on picking up random objects to fight with and on occasionally transforming into other characters to get past obstacles or enemies. I actually had the code neatly-written instead of duct taped together, and it had some cool features, like being able to render only the left or right side of a sprite (used for enemy deaths involving sharp objects). Naturally I stopped working on it, and I don't foresee ever finishing it, or even working on it again.

I have an old demo on this computer, but dicking around with it shows that it's missing some key features; if I find a more up-to-date version then I'll post it. I'll post the sprite splitting code if I ever find it, too, but it's pretty haphazardly done and I'm not sure I can even take it apart from the original sprite rendering routines.

You know, it would be so funny to see you actually release a finished project. Laughing You had some funny feature teasers out way back... Most of all I remember 'Switch17'. That was fun, that one...

I wrote an OpenGL renderer for Wolf3D with advanced lighting pre-baked into the world. Unfortunately the results were not bright enough to be playable, but here is the video proof of what I'm talking about:

I'm still somewhat proud of it. Enjoy! Smile

LinuxWolf, I wanna be the first to say THAT... IS... AWESOME!!! Very Happy lol I mean yeah it's dark, but Hell people bitch about Doom 3 and Doom 64 being too dark too, and I love those games.

Here's some teaser shots of a subway I don't mind revealing (Still in early stage of developing)...

That looks great, Josh! I always had a thing for subways/cars in Wolf ever since I played Berlin Express way back - the last good thing on the subject was the mine carts in Spear Reloaded.

Here's what I've been working on the past two weeks:

Normally I never post anything about what I'm doing, a past fear of jinxing there. But seeing I'm nearly halfway with the maps, which is practically all I'm missing, I thought 'why not?'.

Haven't worked on this in a while, but it will be the replacement of that old Mapset I used to work on. Variety of environments with BJ going on a different mission per episode.

Here's something I've been working on but I'm not going to tell you anything about what it's for, just yet... Razz

I've already made several threads regarding what I'm currently working on. I'll stick to filling those, since that's what they're for.

A project that might someday see the light of day in any way, shape or form.

Sweet! I can't wait for this!!

If it's an announced project or something, then it deserves its own thread, but if you're just wishing to show some stuff, but not enough to create a thread, this could be the place for it.

Here are some ideas I came up with, but am not sure if I'll use them or not..

http://www.mediafire.com/?7t3lruhfallnny4

In the first link is some modern war terrorist styled stuff, the 2nd is ideas for if someone were to make a stealth based Wolfenstein 3d.

Also Dean, nice looking level. I like what I see there Thomas, reminds me of NovoWolf, and Ronwolf, that looks awesome, there's not enough desert based games (I've already talked with Soldat over email about his images) Smile

My only WIP project is something I've already mentioned - the 60-level version of Base Of Operations. Most of the levels are in fact already done, but currently, my compiler isn't working, and there are some problems which cause the current EXE to crash. These crashes occur on E1L1 and E6L9. I suppose it can't hurt to post some screenshots of the newer levels, but I prefer to have my compiler up and running when I do, so I can at least have the mod out shortly afterwards. Smile

The most gruelling redo of the maps was E5L10; I wasn't happy with the original, and it took many months of work before I was finally happy with the redo. But this level was worth every single minute I invested in it, and I'll include a Saved Game with the mod so no one has to miss out on it. Smile

There were one or more rooms I was going to replace in E6L8, but playing them again, I've decided I'm actually rather happy with them. Same went for E6L7; that map was originally made for WolfDX, but the floor/ceiling textures didn't seem to fit the theme of the map well, despite my best efforts. I think I just needed to play these maps with a fresh, open mind, and just flat-out forgetting what theme I was going for originally. It really helps you view things more from other people's perspectives rather than your own. Just because something doesn't go according to plan doesn't mean it came out bad; it just may have come out better in the long run. Smile

Dean-o! Great stuff there. Reminds me of E6M5 meets Chemical Warfare. Funny thing about the brown plants - I often shoot at those poor innocent plants, mistaking them for Wehrmacht guards. Place those two things in the same room and the player will lose ammo... Fast! Twisted Evil Finally someone challenging me on the modding scene with the boring ol' original type of concept! Laughing

There aren't, and you're right. It has just now (this instant) occurred to me that I could go download the Afrika Korps guard pack and find the right textures, make a nice little mod with the occasional cyan ceiling (which is very convincing as sky, bear in mind that this is still Wolf 3D) and brown floor (dirt ground). That would be sweeet!

(Or maybe I shouldn't have mentioned it. Majik will probably make a 4-level mod now and have released it by the time I get off work... lol)

@RonWolf: Awesome work man, I'd play that. Looks like it could very classic yet at the same time, different enough appearance-wise to really stand out... Like Spear Resurrection Smile

@Havoc: Holy... Freakin'... Crap... I'd love to see a download for that reach the light of day. Gotta love Absence! Very Happy lol

@Soldat 555: Thanks man! Smile

@Havoc: Am I glad to see that screenshot. Absence is one of my favorite TC's ever!

All these projects are looking good! Great idea for a topic, gerolf, I think a thread like this makes it way easier for people to post something compared to having to create a whole thread for something that isn't exactly showable yet. Smile

That project looks awesome, Ron, I love the textures, and the idea for a different mission each episode is cool. Part of me hoped to hear you weren't working on anything and were wanting to find someone to help with maps, but this looks even better!

Great thread and great pics! Smile Live the subway Smile

"Team RayCast" decided not to post pics of in-work projects (at least until really near release), so I can't post anything sadly.

I love the Cultist gerolf..I would love to use them in Project: X The Darkest Hour....do you use a Base to make the enemies?

#28: Re: What are you doing with Wolfenstein? Author: gerolfLocation: Virginia PostPosted: Fri Nov 02, 2012 9:46 pm

Yes, the Cultist uses WSJ's guards as a base, I may finish it at some point, and if you wanted to use it when it's done, I don't have a problem with it.

I have to admit, the Phantom Guard looks more like he's one of those guard with gas masks. Nevertheless, the graphics are sweet, I'd no idea your level was this high already.

Yes, I used yet another WSJ guard for that one, but he's influenced by this:

Oh, and thanks for the compliments!
