DieHard Wolfers -> Wolfenstein 3d

#1: Wolfenstein 3D the Online TV Series Author: Joshua PostPosted: Thu Jun 26, 2014 7:21 pm

I remember when I first came to the Wolfenstein 3D community I said that I would make a youtube TV series of Wolfenstein 3D. I already made the pilot which is called Wolfenstein 3D the Pilot. Their is even a music video of the pilot. The pilot is the final SOD levels. I think I need to do a full playthrough of Wolfenstein 3D without using God mode. There might be some times where I will have to use it. We will see. At first I thought there was going to be 60 episodes of Wolfenstein 3D the TV series produced. Now I think that they will be more. I might have to use Episode 1.1, 1.2, etc. etc. I think it is time to actually play Wolfenstein 3D the way it was intended to be played. Without God mode. The reason for all of the episodes having points after them is in case I do not complete the game successfully and have to redo it over. I will use dosbox to play these games.

This TV series is almost 6 years in the making. I might make it similar to pop up videos. Some episodes might have annotations attached to them that explains facts about Wolfenstein 3D. I will probably do alternate endings for each episode also. This TV series will be interactive. I am bringing this up again because I stated when I first came here that I would do this and I did not. It is long overdue. I am going to go back and going to complete tasks that I said that I would do when I first started with this community, but did not get it done. Doing videos is easy.

The series will be based on this concept: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDe-_d1dF64

Every season will take place in real time.

Each season will have 9/10 episodes. Do to the alternate versions, a season could consist of 9 episodes if I do not go to the secret level or 10 episodes if I do go to the secret level.

jpb... I'm sorry, but are you insane?

Why would you ever make this? 60+ episodes? Are you trying to make the next Gunsmoke?

What the hell did I just read? And, why couldn't you just type "events occur in real time" and leave it at that? Why the link to a video that has nothing in it except words that say "events occur in real time"? I am so confused.

jpb6891 is von Münchhausen on speed. Grandiose ideas and schemes and what-have-you, zero product, lots of pointless posting and a waste of f.... time.

I am serious about this. I am trying to fix mistakes from years past. I will be doing other wolf3d projects in between this. I said I would make this 5 years ago, but I did not. I am focusing on getting stuff that I said I would make in the past done. I did state that I would make this back in 2008. I am trying to change starting with this. I announce project after project, but I am too busy to get it done. This is going to change starting with this series.

http://diehardwolfers.areyep.com/viewtopic.php?t=5065

Here is the original topic 5 years ago.

This is going to be the last announced project before it is created. The other future projects will be announced when they are ready to be released.

One reason why I am doing the TV series is to improve making Wolfenstein 3D maps. I have never played Wolfenstein 3D all the way through before without cheating. This is one of the reasons why I am doing the TV series. I figured that I need to play the game the right way before making maps. I am sorry for announcing project after project. I should have waited until I created the first episode before posting it. My goal right now is to work on projects that I have already announced in the past and complete those. The TV series was the first thing that I stated that I would do 5 years ago and did not get around to doing. I see this TV series as a positive for improving future maps.

LOL Thomas. I agree with you. LOL. This is why I am going to start playing and recording videos of me playing the levels.

21 years ago, I beat Wolf3D and Spear before I even knew that there were cheat codes for them. JPB, let me get this straight... You think that by announcing that you are that bad at playing Wolf3D and Spear that people will be more interested in watching you?

Rashreflection and zirblazer posted on Youtube years ago their speedruns and 100% runs for Wolf3D and Spear. Somebody else on wolf3d.darkbb.com posted a link where he played all of the levels of Wolfenstein 3D live. I didn't have time to watch it except for episode 6 level 10.

This better not be an alternate reality game or text adventure.

Just forget about the forums. Don't bother filming any more Youtube videos. I won't watch them. You remind me of the Youtubers who post insane comments or insane videos.

Thomas posted, "And I'm working on a DHW ban. When you're out, you'll never get in again unless you're a sneaky bastard, and I don't think jpb6891 is that. He's not a malcontent. He's just not aware of his actions, at least not for more than a couple of minutes." at http://wolf3d.darkbb.com/t3122-doomsday-spiritual-warfare-throughout-the-end-of-the-age-individual-videos-released . Straighten up your act, JPB.

That's not what I meant when I typed, "Straighten up."

You have done these things:
-Filibustering/spamming
-You remind me of the Youtubers who post insane comments or insane videos
-You don't understand your emotions or delusions
-You remind me of The Christian sect members who say, "Our sect is true, well... because."
-Promoted Fire-and-brimstone religion like Timothy LeHaye's and Jerry Jenkins' books
-Plagiarizes maps
-Posted way too many announcements
-Announced projects without posting screenshots (I have stopped doing this.)
-Not listened
-Wanted to create and post 300 subpar mods in a year. Thank you for not going through with it.
-Had a mod with screechy music and poor title screen art
-Emailed me more than anybody else who still contacted me. Then I told you to stop for much more than 100 days. Thank you for complying so far.
-I don't want your behavior to detract people from the forums
-I don't want your bad reputation to rub off on people
-Catphished with alternate reality text adventure games
-Posted storylines that are confusing or don't go anywhere
-I work 2 jobs and I don't want to be obligated to watch your videos, play your mods, or post your games
-Wasted Time
-Created more questions than answers with your behavour.

Matt, your last post was off topic. I am planning on doing these videos. It is something that I should had done when I came to the Wolfenstein 3D community back in 2008. There is a saying you can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make him drink. I have decided to listen to the advice on this forum and that is what I am going to do in the future.

Wow. It's amazing how many posts can materialize in less than 24 hours. What?

Let me get straight to the point - there's a lot of "backseat moderating" going on in this topic. Please, let's refrain from telling users who will get banned and whose behavior is out-of-line. That's the moderator's jobs.

If you're not interested in hearing another one of JPB's announcements, then the best thing to do is ignore them when they're posted. I check these forums at least once every 24 hours, so if he's violating the forum's rules in any way, I'll deal with the problem ... assuming one of the other moderators hasn't beaten me to it. Smile

JPB is posting these things simply to get attention. As long as you post in an "announcement thread" he's created, it encourages him to keep making more announcement threads. Under these circumstances, giving him the "silent treatment" is definitely your best bet. Smile

And this is for JPB - the last time I checked - the phrase "TV series" meant "television series", as in a show made on a TV network's expense, and aired on television. What you're posting about is clearly a web-series, so the thread's title is definitely misleading. Please keep this sort of thing in mind the next time you create a topic. Thank you.

You are right Tricob. There are online TV networks, now. So I changed it to online TV series.

Tricob, when I got home from my shift, I read your link with rules including about backseat moderating. If that's the way you all feel, then I'm less interested in starting another argument or clicking on threads that JPB started. I'll have to give him the silent treatment as you are requesting me to do. Or I'll just briefly tell him I'm not interested.

I can understand everyone's point here, especially Matt and the ridiculous amount of announcements that JPB has made, it just doesn't stop, he just keeps announcing and announcing things;
- 20, 30, 50+ mods
- Releasing a level a day (still 0 released)
- A Tv web series

How can anyone take any of this seriously? And like I stated in another thread i find that this is bordering on spam as this is unwanted, unrealistic, and unnecessary posting. It's like a 3 year old screaming and yelling until mummy comes and gives hium a hug - IT'S ALL ATTENTION SEEKING! Pretending to be a modder by making numerous, ridiculous announcements that can never be met does not make one a modder.

I can see Tricob, how you say Matt's comment is bordering on back seat moderating and in a small way it is, but it's also Matt publicly expressing a personal issue that he has with JPB not just annoyance like Thomas has been. Personally, I think that JPB needs to start to realise that MULTIPLE people are becoming increasingly annoyed with his behaviour on the forum because the message just doesn't seem to be getting through. As a moderator the last thing I want is people to stop coming here because of one persons ridiculous posting.

The reason why the announcement threads do not have mods is because I have a busy life. I have learned my lesson and now know that it is best to make an announcement when the mod/story/online TV episode is done. I will also remember to post screenshots for the mods that I release. Also, the maps a day have gone from a day to a month. People on this forum told me that it would be best to release a map or a mapset per month instead of everyday.

Have you seen Jpb's Youtube channel?

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChzMKf0rNa_Qtt1k12laqJw/videos

Some of the 'Wolf3d Interactive Movies' are actually not terrible, if he made it all himself. But they're split into like... 10 second fragments.

At least some of the content is from GameTrailers; note the GameTrailers logo that is not removed in some videos.

As for the shortened clips, it might not be JPB's doing. Some time in 2013 (maybe even the first quarter of 2014), YouTube appeared to make an attempt embedding ads into the new videos that were uploaded on the site. These ads presumably were supposed to show up after a few seconds. But the servers that hosted the ads kept crashing. As a result, the videos were marked as "complete" when they really weren't, and whenever an ad was supposed to show up, the video abruptly ended instead.

I shortened the clips myself. I have the files and I can upload them to archive.org if anyone is interested.

Something like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1x7RvfB_Zs

Is definitely not Jpb's product. That is the opening cutscene for Wolfenstein 2009, I still remember it. I am talking about these:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzTpP7Ib5kk
Lines can get pretty... cliched. But the animations are decent?

Dude, we know you shortened it. You're the one who uploaded it. That says nothing about the origins of the content.

You made the video, but did you create the visuals? We have to be really literal apparently.

I never said that the visuals were mine. Gametrailers reveal that they are from gametrailers. I just made the graphic novels into interactive movies.

What about this?

Did you make the animations yourself? Or were they taken elsewhere or...?
