Indeed. It's set in the near future, so I thought I'd base all the weapons on modern ones. But it still has Nazis! So don't despair! (It needed some insane plot contortions to get them in though).

That's a great idea. You should make the "creep" control actually work (like RtCW). But the only thing that bothers me about that... a lot of people don't use mouse and keyboard for Wolf 3D (reminds me of an old Dome Forums poll) they just use keyboard, and the people that do use mouse and keyboard may not necessarily use the arrow keys for their strafing (on modern FPS I use the standard A and D keys for strafing, with W and S for forwards and backwards). It'd be cool if you could make it all customizable. I don't think it would be too tough to do, would it? You could probably get an idea how to do it from Doom's code.

Cool idea, but I only use the keyboard. I like to use alt for strafe, and the arrow buttons to move. I'm just used to that controls a lot more than using the mouse to move and the arrow keys to strafe.

Thanks for the feedback. So... Customisable is good? Okay. I think I can do that! (fingers crossed). I personally find the thing that really impedes me when playing Wolfenstein is that you can't use the left and right keys to strafe... But then that's only 'cos I played Doom first.

this game looks cool. What interests me a lot, though, is those RPG screenshots! i've always dreamt of making my own RPG...I even have maps drawn in paintbrush, and entire plots from start to finish designed. monkee and I were working on them back before we started wolf modding. What do you use to make those? Back to topic, though...your game looks very cool...way to "push" the limits! Very Happy

Those old RPG's! They were programmed in QBasic. I started doing that way back at the age of 10... But most of the work you see is actually done by my good friend The Anarchist. I taught him QB... Man, those were the days!... And then he got massively better than me... Embarassed Mr Green I mainy did some graphics and music. Which mostly just stayed around, doing nothing. He's sh*t at finishing things off.

But yeah, download Concrete Jungle. It has a cool plot. And some incredibly hilarious bugs in it. Especially with the levelling up system! Wink

Sorry, but when I heard the word "RPG", I couldn't stay away...my first love, even more so than FPS's is RPG's, and I rarely get to speak of them. I apologize in advance for the slightly off-topic post (though it has gone this direction by now), and the fistful of images...so sue me...

In brief, a few years ago my big project I was working on was a "Star Wars" RPG in the Zelda style. It featured elements of Star Wars (Yoda Stories images I acquired from the program), Resident Evil, Lord of the Rings, and a few other elements. I spent hours putting together plots, dialogue, maps, and puzzles, because a guy told me he could put them into an actual game. He couldn't, though, and what's left is a huge collection of images in Paintbrush and dialogue in text files that's never gotten used. The game was tested in it's paintbrush form with dice since the fighting system wasn't automated, and the critics loved it. There were "cut scenes" in between each episode also to help move the story. If there's one thing that gets my goat to this day, it's all the hard work I went to to put together a project (two seperate three-episode games) that never got off the ground..."Star Wars: Bloodlines" and "Star Wars: Dark Saber". Anyway, I'll shut up now, but here's some pics. Your game looks great! Keep up the good work! My apologies for this brief diversion from "Wolf speak"...I'm off now! Very Happy

Sweet! Nice NPC feature, I try to add an invicinibilty cheat and it bombs with "An actor in ATTACKMODE called SightPlayer!" !!

Yeah, QBasic is great fun. Nothing beats going through an old work computer (that wasn't meant for playing games) and finding Gorilla and Nibbles hiding on there - lol. I'll have to check out some of those old experiments you and your friend have created Hair Machine. They seem pretty cool, juding by their screenshots and descriptions.

This RPG-style wolf3d addon of yours looks very good in terms of quality and original ideas. I was happily surprised to see how much work has been put into Super Blitzkrieg already. I bet your new game will be quite entertaining. Smile

Hello, people.

Finally! I worked out where all the code that checks for keypresses etc. is! So I can add my strafe left/right keys in. I also eliminated the y-axis from the mouse ( Razz ) which, for me, is a great achievement. Now you no longer move forwards when the mouse gets pushed forward!! Well, you may think that's no big deal, but it took an epic struggle to get there!!

Anyway, the point of this post is to ask what keys people use to play Wolf 3d. I want to add four more buttons, and these will probably be WASD... But if people use these keys normally I'll have to think again... Or try and make it all customisable, something way beyond me...

So, please reply ASAP! Then I can get on with it. Cheesy Grin

Why not build them into the configuration menu so that people can define the keys used just as they can with the rest of the game?

I had a quick attempt at this when I first wanted to add the new keys... But I had absolutely no clue what I was doing. Embarassed
So I had this vague outside hope I wouldn't have to do it at all, and that miraculously everyone would use exactly the same keys for everything! Anyway, I thought I might as well ask "the community", as at the moment I'm trying to fix a bug which has turned all my bonus items into directional 3d sprites... Sarcastic I have no idea what's going on there, either. Ho hum.
