The curses of WDC on Windows 98! Well, I guess WDC is just NT OS friendly while it doesn't like DOS based. Adam, if you got anyother IMF test things, I will glady test them out.

@BrotherTank... thanks... I guess I still haven't got the IMFLib.dll thing figured out yet. Just rename it and the problem goes away.
Of course so does the ability to play IMFs and adlib sounds. Guess I need to consult Ripper as to what I may be doing wrong. Iit's definitely not a problem with the DLL since you guys can run CE with no problems.

@ZuljinRaynor: Nothing new to test yet.
@all with Win95/98: Does IMFCreator work and exit without an error on your machine?

@Win98 users: OK, the next release *might* fix the bug. I removed some hooking that was letting WDC when the IMF had finished. Now I just have a timer going that checks the IMF position about 5-10 times a second. That should fix it. I'll try to release the update tomorrow - my time. Smile
@The_EgAt: The next update may or may not include the graphic editor fixes.

EDIT: OK, the rectangle tool will work a bit better when the mouse is off the image. The lagging pencil tool will require some in-depth code changes right now. It will stay as it is for the moment. Sad Just draw slower. Wink I may improve the functionality later on, but it's not something I want to tear into at the moment. (sorry)

WDC is slowly moving out of focus since it seems to be somewhat stable and kind of bug-free, which is good because some other projects have not been worked on for a long time. *cough* WinWolf3D *cough* The Orb of Dilaaria.
I will work on any bugs/improvements that arise later on, so "support" won't be ending.

OK, WDC 1.9.241 is out.
Hopefully this fixes the standalone ENDART editor bug and the Win98/IMFLib crash on exit bug.
Would someone with Win98 please let me know how it does now? Thanks

I opened Double-U Dee See
And tested it out
I pressed the little X in the corner
Double-U Dee See didn't crash

You did it Adam. WDC didn't crash for me. Smile

One thing that's not necessary but would be cool, the ability to reposition images with your mouse (in the endart editor).

Yeah, that is a good idea. I'll have to see about it. I can't say if and when I will get it in there, but it would cool.

Well Adam, I've discovered another bug in WDC. The problem is when you add an extra font to VGA file, and you compile it, but during the compiling process, I get a "runtime error" and then WDC quits. Shocked

I've checked to see if WDC compiles correctly when adding a new font, and it does. All I need to see if it shows correctly in the game (which I'll do tomorrow).

@Haasboy: Alright. I tested it myself by compiling a project with an extra font and was able to open the compiled data files up correctly, so it should work in-game too. *crosses fingers*

Next stop: Full OBC and C7 support (sometime... soon hopefully).

I found a bug in the latest 1.9.244 version.

Apparently the first selected texture in map edit mode is not displayed, nor are the positional starts displayed when selecting either of the 4.

@TheTalentedMrLeo: Do you mean in the bottom right area where textures are displayed? Or in the object list or the map itself?
Would you post a link to a screen shot?

Actually, that's not really a bug. It just means that the WDCMapData file needs to have that set up.
To do this:
1- go to Edit->Map Symbols.
2- Go to wall symbol #1
3- See the square on the right side of the window with the scroll bar beneath it? Click the right arrow until it goes to the correct wall image. (Probably once in this case)

If you want to set up images for the player start positions, the steps are basically the same. What WDCMapData file are you using? Maybe I didn't set it mine up right.

A lot of stuff is inside of the WDCMapData file that can make WDC appear to misbehave. Such as defining a wall to be a floor will cause the autofloor to mess up and use the wall symbol as a floor, etc.

Like I said, I might have messed up one of the WDCMapData files that comes in the install by accident, which is possible I do remember accidentally deleting the WL6 one and having to bring up another file, one I thought was up-to-date. Maybe it wasn't.
Which one are you using? This way I can check/correct the file.

I meant, in the project information screen, what's the WDCMapData.* file you are using?

Any chance of the sounds sections of WDC to be working in Win98Se? It seems that I can go into digitised sounds no problem, (for the most part)... but if I try to play with adlib sounds or music... I can maybe hear or move the pointer 6 times.. and then crash. It leaves the sound hook in place and when I restart WDC, there is no sound card available..

Also, it seems that WDC doesn't like to have MSN Messenger running (latest version). Run both and expect a complete system lockup at random times/intervals.

I'm running Win98Se, on a PII-400Mhz MMX system with 256M Ram, minimal drivers loaded (Dos mem reports 603k free). So any help would be great, as I like the program and would love to use it more.. if I could without it crashing. Because of that, I have spent very little time playing with it. Maybe Ripper can give you more help in using his library??...

@BrotherTank: Hmm, is this the same crash message you posted awhile back? I thought I had fixed that a couple of updates ago. Are you using 1.9.244?

If you shut off the "auto-play adlib on move" in File->Preferences, are you able to reproduce the crash when you hit play manually?

I'll try things out with MSN. So it just locks up the system completely? No error message or anything? Does it seem to depend on what screen you're on? Map editor, WAV list, adlib list?

Does anyone else win Win98SE still experience adlib problems?
Anyone with MSN have this lock up? It might be hard for me to test, I don't have a Win98SE machine.

Yep, using the latest downloadable version... 244

That I haven't tried, but I will. I've been using the autoplay and I can move about 5 to 7 (it's random) and then it bombs. I'll let you know how that works...

No error messages at all. I have noticed that it does something to the screen... ie: I'm switching between windows and it will start trashing the MSN chat window so that it doesn't look right (colours, graphics, buttons... etc). When I notice this I have to shut WDC down, because if I don't it locks the whole machine tighter than a ... well.. insert your own verbal illustration... Smile

Ok... moving manually doesn't seem to cause the crash... The sounds aren't 100% nice, but they do work... But I am still having the problem where if I listen to the wavs and then go listen to the digi-adlib/music sounds and then try to return to the wavs, the wavs then give no sound at all.

Hope that helps...

Spoke too soon on that.. Manually moving does cause the crash. I was extracting songs from Blake Stone (both versions) when the problem happens. Tested it with Wolf3d full to see if there was a difference... same thing, as it still crashes. It happens at random times. Sometimes I can listen to a few and then extract before it crashes.
