I never made it through the entire game, but I have seen a screenshot of the spear as a weapon, somewhere. Has anyone finished the games? Can someone tell me what happens at the end?

Leave us not forget, though (as I mentioned before) that this add on was done before the arrival of fancy editing programs that became available after the Wolf source code was released. It's easy to look at it now compared to...say....Spear Resurrection, and say, "Man...that sucks that they didn't do this or that...", but they did an admirable job in a lot of respects considering the time and resources available to them. I don't care for the color scheme much, the voice acting, or the animations for some of the characters, but they were one of the first to mod Wolfenstein, and despite the redundant similarity of the two "Lost Episodes", they were a decent effort...not to mention the fact that they actually made money for their efforts in the process...Cool

This week, I finished this mod. I found the levels strange. Often, the keys are useless. We visit many and many rooms to discover that the elevator is beside the starting point in a secret door... A boss is also in a secret door... It's funny a moment but after, I find that boring. Confused

There is a shareware Wolf3D set called 'Lost Episodes' which has most of the graphics/sounds of Lost Episodes. It's at http://www.belowe.com/Lost-ep.zip

Needs the shareware Wolf3d 1.4 to play though.

I thought the last 2 episodes of SOD were cool. I wouldn't consider them "lost" though.

The problem is that these are all just sets for wolf or spear. I just want a set of maps, with no new graphics, no new source changes, specifically made to fit with the lost ep vswap. How about that?

I know it's been done before, Ringman...I think I saw one while browsing through the archives on the Dome. Sadly, I can't remember which month I read about it in. I know such a set does exist, though, but I don't think they are very common... Cheesy Grin

Ringman, are you trying to find a way to access the graphics and sounds from the sets? That was the impression I got, but maybe you just like the Lost Episodes and want TC's that use their material...that could be it too. Smile

No, Majik. I have the Lost Episodes, but the maps suck. I think it would be better with newer maps. I don't want the graphics and sounds, I just want a map set. Gamemaps and Maphead files. New ones that fit with the Lost Ep graphics. You can't just download any old sod map for the lost ep because the graphics don't correspond. I want user levels specifically tailored to the Lost Ep graphics.

I got them all wolf3d, sod, and the lost ep all in one cd they had suddenly released at sam goody a couple of years back, that was when I first discovered wolf and its community.

That's what I figured you meant. The original Lost Episodes maps were horrible. There were so many glitches and things that didn't make any sense. It didn't feel like playing through a unified game, it felt like the "not so greatest hits" collection of different maps that just happened to use the same graphics. I can see why you'd like a set with better levels. Even with good level design, though, I can't stomach some of the wall colors and designs in the LE...no matter how hard I try. And the bats...oh, the bats... Sick

Put simply: Whereas Wolf3D and SoD relied on semi-realistic graphics, the Lost Episodes went waaaaaaaayyyyyyyy off-base with cartoony settings.

Hey the bats are hilarious! And I think some of the walls look really interesting. I've seen many a wolf mod that goes with grays and browns all the time, its nice to see some real color! Maybe I'm weird.

Not really wierd, but you have to admit that some of those wall designs are hard on the eyes...that brown and orange and gray one made up of all the triangles inspires nausuea in me...and some of those wierd baby blue rock looking walls just don't make any sense...but everyone is entitled to their own preferences...Very Happy

My first introduction to the "Lost Episodes" was through an old add-on for shareware Wolf...I think it's the same one Brian posted a link to. I thought it was kinda cool, but the maps for one were much better designed than the original Formgen maps. When I eventually played the actual Lost Episodes, I thought they were just terrible...

There are a few good graphics in there (Some of the rock and steel textures look cool), and some of the sound effects are cool as well (I do like the echo effect on all of the sounds), but yeah...The maps just ruined any hope of me having a good time.

So your theory is correct, Ringman, at least to me... The missions would've at least been playable if more time had been put into the maps. Which of course proves, once again, what we've all said for years now about TCs: the level design and playability must always be the center focus of your game. Even Spear Resurrection would've been horrible without good levels and a fun playability factor...

What is with the entrance textures? Remember? In level 1, with the dogs, you could turn around, and behind the pipes of the sub-pen there was this god awful green slime dripping infront of the cave opening. There was red sh*t mixed in too, reminded me of some weird hellish Doom wall. I don't know the way those artists viewed the world, or through what kind of spectacles or drugs, but there's was a sour coloured world indeed.

I never did figure that out...I also thought it was supposed to be some kind of cave texture...but it looks like if someone had a real wall and inverted the colors by accident then kept it...it does look horrible, and I can't imagine nobody on the LE team noticed that... Sick

I recently dloaded the shareware episode of LE, and the map design is horrible. And I noticed something interesting when I was playing it, some of the sounds are wrong and/or different compared to the ones listed on the translation-site.
Weird... And some of the walls look nice, but some are just horrible.

Uh...the only thing Submarine Willie is good for is stripping for parts to use for other boss creations (which I've done quite often)...same goes for a lot of the graphics in the LE...a little recoloring and editing goes a long way with them. There guns would have been pretty cool if they weren't blue...what's up with all the BLUE crap in this game! Sick I'm surprised the soldiers don't have blue skin and blue uniforms...playing this game makes me blue...and those bubbles...don't get me started... Smile

I liked Willy's assault rifle/smg. Other than the goofy face (Which I'm sure could be touched up) I could see him being a very good base. Same with the ss, as long as the walking/goose stepping was made to look a little less....'stick up ass'. The Angel of Death was a pile of s**t, but the Robot was kind of cool, it's as if he would play and be your friend if he didn't support National Socialism and mass genocide.

I also like the blue dogs Majik, you can't forget those lovable hounds. Very Happy

@ Metal Overlord, Most people think I'm Swedish or Norweigan, due mostly for my worshipping of At The Gates, Entombed *('tis where my name hails from), Emperor, Zyklon, Immortal, The Haunted, Nasum, Decapitated, Face Down, etc etc...

But I'm not. I only envy the hell out of anyone who gets to live in either of those countries, (well maybe Sweden a little more...)

The electro-rods and test-tubes look ok when you use them as animated objects in a Wolf game (replacing the Pac-Man ghosts with the appropriate sprites and changing the sprites enough to look like they're moving). In fact, they almost look good...

As far as freezing electricity goes, Chief... That could be potentially deadly for the Allies. If the Nazis froze our electricity, then we wouldn't be able to heat our microwave TV dinners and we could all starve to death Shocked

Also, by freezing the water and liquids on the earth, the Nazis might reduce us to a poor pathetic existence of nothing but ice skating since our large oceans would be frozen solid and there'd be nothing else to do, since we couldn't eat anything! Horrors! I don't think you're realizing the full impact of of this Nazi threat... This is no laughing matter! Get in there and exterminate those damn flying shooting Nazi robot bat things before they fly in your hair, lay their eggs and make you go crazy !! Mr Green

It can be tough saying something bad about someone else's art work, since it can take so long to draw good stuff...but I'll say it...those sprites suck. Sorry, but if you're going to go to all that trouble of making new characters, why resort to those wierd color effects which make them look crappy? I stand by my "blue clay theory". I think the LE sprites were based on clay models photographed in a variety of poses, but I think someone forgot to bring a variety of colors, and they wound up using almost all blue. I think they shone a red light on the devil model to make a "cool" effect, but instead it just looks crappy...sorry, guys!
