You can try out WDC on my webpage (just click the WWW button below this post to get there.) I've not tested it with Blake Stone completely, but it's so similiar to Wolf3D, it should work just fine. WDC even has a multiple chunk extractor function so you can grab a lot of graphics at one time. Let me know if you try it out and whether it works for you.

Yeah, WDC is a bit different from other editors...
You need to start a project...
1. Go to File -> New Project
2. Type in a name for the project file and click Save
3. The project information screen will appear with two red lines. Click the '...' button beside 'Base Data Folder' and point to your Blake Stone folder. Click OK. Both lines should no longer be red.

This gets you to 'read only' mode.
If you want to edit, click the '...' button next to 'Output Folder' and select the folder you want the edited files to be placed.

You will probably want to create a new folder for the output folder first (using the normal Windows way). The 'Output Folder' cannot be the same as the 'Base Data Folder'.

Since you're using Blake Stone, be sure to click '...' for the 'Default Palette' line. The Blake Stone palette is found in the 'Palettes' folder where you installed WDC.

Hmm, I just realized that the 'internal palettes' don't switch the graphic colors... I'll have to update WDC.

But for sprites, walls, and most VGAGRAPH pictures it will be fine.

Hope this helps.

hey Adam, i downloaded WDC the other day. I found it very useful since I never had been able to see graphics from other games than wolf. GOOD JOB! Too Cool

I had a small problem with Blake Stone, tough. I only have the shareware version (BS1) so I couldn't open its files because there is no palette to choose from. From the other post I believe Josh had the same problem.
Is it possible to fix this?

and Josh Good luck with your KADooM project Very Happy

@Josh: Hmm.. it didn't work for you? Did you get an error message or did the colors not look right like what MrWolf said?

@MrWolf: Thanks. I'll give it a try with BS1 files right now. I imagine they're close to BS6, so they should work. The palette file is in "<INSTDIR>\Palettes\BlakeStone.pal" where <INSTDIR> is "C:\Program Files\WDC" by default. You need to set this palette as the "Default Palette" on the project information screen. i'll check it out though to see if anything weird is going on.

EDIT: BS1 works fine. When it asks for a map data file, just use WDCMapData.BS6.

You're right Adam, aparently there were some files missing in my folder. I reinstalled the game and now I can see them just fine.
