As Arctic Wolf finishes up and I start my last project Sorcerers Wrath, I thought of something that has not been done in wolfenstein yet, a first person style RPG. Beginning of the game you play the story line speaking with villagers then getting into your mission. I have lots of new coding features for this tc that I have tested for example boobie traps like in RTCW and if you ever played Heretic or Hexen which I am sure you have and I plan on fitting alot of features and ideas new and old into this tc.

ps. I am looking for a few people who can help out with this in the areas:

some coding:
fix some art textures:
and maps:

If interested right back or drop me and email. BTW anyone who was going to test Arctic Wolf catch me on msn tomarrow b.c I tried sending you my tc but your accounts are to small to take so I will need to send it to u over msn messenger.

I have to say I like the idea, it's certaintly ambitious. I don't know if it is possible in wolf, though I'm already thinking of a few ways you could do conversation. On one hand though it might be more coding then it's worth. Interesting idea, though.

Well, Orb of Dilaaria will be somewhat RPG-ish. It won't have talking with villagers and what not, but it does have a fantasy setting and some traps and tricky situations.
But it's cool... there can always be more Wolf3D RPGs... it's a broad area that has a lot of potential.

I've always thought of RPGs being stat orientated. Do you plan on some sort of level or upgrade system? Also, if you still need help with those wall textures, I'd be happy to help.

Hmmm...I'd often thought about doing something like this with Wolf3D, actually. It was just the size of the project I wanted to do: It would have taken years to do it good by myself. I loved Heretic and Hexen and what they did with the old Doom engine, and I also liked the Catacombs 3-D series that used a similiar Wolf3D-type engine. So I thought it would probably have been possible with Wolf3D, given enough perspiration and determination...

Anyway, it would probably be easier to do it today than it would have been three years ago, given the tools you now have to edit Wolfenstein with and the advancements in source code hacking.

Didn't you have this idea for "The Scorcerer's Wrath" back in the day of the demo-release already, Luke? Wink

Interesting Idea, my friend......

Re: Talking with villagers.....

not that hard 2 do, actually. I did have it all implemented
for "Killing Hans Gruber", but as y'all know, that's
gone to hell in five easy lessons.....

Basically, what happens is
that when u step on a certain sprite, there appears a message
saying something like:

"Good Evening, Raistlin, do U need 2 get a new haircut?"
Press Y if yes, press N if no.

Then, suppose the player hits "Y".

If [Keyboard (sc_B)]
{
etc.

and it displays another message.
The problem with this is that it uses up
HEAPS of memory for just one conversation,
let alone having even a nearly acceptable amount.

So all
that we need is
To Free
Up some memory
and then
We'll have a pretty
cool RPG
style interaction
and all.....

What Idea?
Do think the
you of

I really really do
think
with
coders
like
Ripper
This would be easy

VeRy _easy_
and if anyone dares 2 respond with 'W00T', I'll personally
Strangle my mouse in the hope that somehow,
It'll get 2 u....

I had the idea of converting the framwork for an RPG I designed (in the Star Wars universe) into the Wolfenstein format...but then Adam suggested just turning it into a workable RPG instead, so were working in that direction instead...but it would be cool to see a project done in the Wolf format someday also...I'm a HUUUUUUUGE RPG fan...(in case you hadn't made that connection by looking at my avatar) Cheesy Grin

I was thinking that conversation might be better implemented with a Talk "weapon" where the graphics of the actor you "shoot" (or perferably "stab") would change to maybe a text bubble or something.
