Some time ago I posted under my name (Matt), an enemy sprites tutorial at the dome.

What do you think about it?

By the way...
Yeah, it's the one with Steven Seagal Smile

Cool, I just checked it out now...

Your techniques for creating real people are pretty interesting, especially when describing how you made the pants and the faces. I suppose artwork is most successful when you keep experimenting until you find things you like, but having little nudges in the right direction like this can be helpful and/or inspirational sometimes; depending on what you're after. I have to agree - good stuff Matt. I should try it myself some time Smile Good idea re using a simple outline to start with and working up from there. The shading part would be the most time consuming, I tend to get a little lazy here and try to use an automated way of applying this (such as an "inner bevel" effect in Paint Shop Pro), but the face detailing generally doesn't work so well this way. Making enemy sprites is one of the hardest things to do imho.

I once designed an *almost* entire set of knight sprites this way. I was just missing the mid walking sprites and the death sprites. I used the standing sprites as the mid walking sprites, which worked kind of weird. Somebody has it somewhere and its floating around somewhere. It took me about three days!

Anyway you ought to let Majik put some of your sprites up on his web page they look really good, and if you have a complete set, I'm sure people would love to use them.

Thanks for all the good comments! Razz
This really makes me want to keep drawing!

I did some enemies (with all the frames) based on wolfenstein and Blake Stone's guards, wich where my first 'experiments', I think I'll send those to Majik Monkee (thanks for the idea).

Now I'm trying to do guards 'from scratch' wich is a lot harder.

Watch for The Punisher TC! I'll be helping with weapons graphics and some enemy concepts.

Oh, and Steven Seagal parodies are cool! Very Happy
