You whip around the corner...a hooded maniac is standing there, looking dumb...you've got plenty of time to whip up your shotgun and give him a new oriface before he even knows what's going on. He bites the dust, and with a self-satisfied grin, you walk over and strip him of the goods he's carrying. Out of the corner of your eye you see movement in the shadows behind you. You turn around with lightning speed just in time to dodge a lethal blow by a rusty axe. It's a walking corpse, and he's not happy to see you. Well, you don't like him much either, you think, as you whip out your tommmy gun and blow him to smithereens....

Is it a scene from a B-grade horror movie? Perhaps a nightmare induced by eating pizza and pickles right before bed? Nope...it's BJ's vacation in England as depicted in "The Halls of Stonehenge", my current add-on in the works.

With textures, objects, and enemies taken from the game "Blood" by Monolith, "Stonehenge" is a trip into the macabre as a worn out BJ fights a more fanatical brand of Nazi, as well as a host of undead menaces unleashed by an evil gunslinger named Draven. Features include:

- enemies from "Blood" (fanatics, gargoyles, axe zombies, grim reapers)
- new weapon visuals (pitchfork, shotgun, tommy gun, "auto shotgun")
- edited status bar and BJ portrait (stubble added)
- new sounds for most enemies etc.
- 18 (tentative) levels
- five new bosses
- new title screen/ending art
- lengthy intro story (seperate file currently)
- almost all new wall textures (from "Blood"), pickups, and other sprites
- same old everything else

EDIT: This thread contained a megaload of bad picture links, courtesy to Angelfire. If you like to read the "progress" section of the thread for this game in text format, click here. Smile

HOS IS HERE!!!!!

It's true! After months and months of hard work, team HOS has finally delivered the goods. A lot of "Blood", sweat, and tears has gone into the production of this game, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it. The link is below...

If you're having problems with that link, here's another one:

http://www.canadianphilatelics.com/choksta/HOS.zip

I updated the Mouse Sensitivity option so you can actually get out of it (for those of you who actually use that feature)... lol. I'll be spending the next few days trying to beat ack at his own levels! haha, talk about fun! Happy Halloween! Wink

Thanks to Majik Monkee I've just wasted the last hour playing "Halls of Stonehenge" when I should have been updating the news page at MCS' and my site Smile I started playing on baby mode, what a wuss I am eh? Smile

I like the mod so far (I'm up to level 3). Loved the first big fat guy I found in a secret area (think it was in level 2). Found the machinegun and chaingun relacements, but I've been using the shotgun (it seems to pack a pretty good wallop - but then I am on baby mode, should start playing on a decent skill level)!

You've captured the "Blood" feel nicely Majik! Thumbs up Smile

My brother has deleted the game from his computer, and which secret Mikey? the one with the white marking on it, or the one with the yellowish color,

P.S. My brother does not have his taste for this TC, he said the whole thing sucked crap.

Woah, ack shows his face on the forum again; too cool. Mr Green

I gotta say, it was really fun cracking open the original wolf3d source code and trying to imitate everything MCS/Brothertank's did in their exe; while adding all the extra features Majik wanted (which, in the long run; was much easier than trying to hex edit everything - lol)... but I guess having two weeks (while McDonalds taking up 11-12 hours of my time everyday) wasn't enough for me to notice those 2 cool little secret passages that go off into noman's land on level 7.

Sorry about that lack of observation on my part, but if you want a patch... here it is. I changed one secret passage in level 13 too, because having it go 4+ squares would make it run over that treasure. If you originally downloaded HOS from the link I posted (or from Mr. Lowe's page), your saved games should still work - but if you grabbed the game from Matt's link, just PM me and I'll convert your saved games. Here's the link (just unzip it to whatever folder you put the game in):

http://www.canadianphilatelics.com/choksta/HOS_l7fx.zip

Haha... I'm still working on trying beat your first total time of 46:17 without saving ack. Some of these levels impose quite a challenge (It was pretty obvious that you made level 3, with those 'tease' poles that restrict the player from accessing certain things right away; and the way the keys bring you straight to the path of the locked door so you go directly back to the start areas once you have them - ala Spear: Resurrection goodness). Nice work there man!

By the way, it wasn't me who wrote this message; it was uhh... mr. Bob, yeah. Wink

Glad to hear you all enjoy it...with the exception of experiencedgamer's brother, that is Laughing That was pretty much what I was shooting for when I made it. Believe it or not, I get "schooled" pretty much myself still when I play this game on the harder difficulties...usually not by my own levels, but ack's can still frequently get the better of me. This is the first TC I've done or released, and I had high hopes for it, and I'm glad that for the most part, they seem to have been met. Hope you all enjoy the rest of it as much as you did the openning levels! BTW, there's a new web site for the game, thanks to some hard work on ack's part (more hard work, that is). You can find it at: http://www.canadianphilatelics.com/hos/index.htm. The old HOS page I had done will be taken down to make way for this much more elaborate one. Enjoy! Very Happy

Nevermind. Smile I found some crazy way to beat all 4 spider bosses in that room I was talking about earlier. Twisted Evil On the first spider if you have around 90-99 ammo blow it with either a shotgun or a riot shotgun, run around the second and third spider (the third spider you get the key from), you will find a hidden area (not secret) with 3 ammo boxes and 3 health kits grab 2 ammo boxes and if neccessary grab some health and blow the second spider with the shotgun, then grab the last ammo box and blow the third spider also with the shotgun, then go to the other hidden where the third spider was and grab the 3 ammo boxes and health if neccessary, and then blow the fourth spider with the shotgun to conserve ammo. Wink The shotgun packs quite a punch Smile

I forgot to mention that around the area of where the fourth spider is there is a third hidden area also with 3 ammo boxes and 3 health aids. Wink If there are any ammo boxes left in any one of the 3 areas you should get them so you can blast the gargoyles in the room where the second key is. Wink

Mr Green I enjoyed playing this one.. First Computer is fine with HOS (Intel Celeron 700mhz with 384mb, GF2 GTS, 40gb).. any idea about screen size? I got Confused about that size Sad

I had the same problem with the display screen size on one of my comps. I turned off the textures and got a larger screen size. (go to 'control' from the main menu and then select 'advanced management').

And I think you can also turn off the menu background to achieve a similar effect...or maybe that only works to prevent crashes with the quicksave...I don't quite remember (obviously I didn't create that feature Laughing) I know that the more memory you have, obviously, the larger screen size it will allow you to use...I can't get full screen when I run in pure DOS mode because my PC is an old piece of junk...Laughing
