Those of you who have visited the Dome in the past several hours may have noticed a new mod there called "HOS: Special Edition". Just to avoid any confusion, this is actually a sequel to the original HOS, not just a souped up version of the old game with minor changes. Originally, the HOS sequel was going to be called "HOS: Dead Reckoning", but that all changed after the project was announced. All of the levels are by ack this time, and he worked on several other aspects of the project as well, thus it's a joint release this time instead of just by me. I'd love to hear what you folks think of the mod as you get a chance to play it... Too Cool

Prevous HOS had a problem with screen size when it run on my computer (running on 1.5Ghz, 512mb and Ati Radeon 9800XT), Next HOS one (SE) now working better and gives me full screen on same computer, Sound like Ack found bug in previous HOS. Mr Green Cheesy Grin

@Ack: Do you know what kind of bug found in code, I been look for problem after I add Outside Atmosphere to my TC which it cause the screen reduced by from full when I run on that computer like I said. Thanks

The only thing I did with SE was some minor hex editing

Getting the hang of hex editing, eh? Sounds awesome.

The little twists to the original feel in SE is nice! I'd totally agree with Otto and Mikey X about the game so far. I'm sure ack's levels and Majik's creativity will be full or surprises like always. Love the "Don't read this" document. I was kinda scared to read it at first, but I'm glad I took the risk and clicked on it. But for everyone else, DON'T READ IT! Laughing

Man, I was finally able to replicate this today! If anyone has 600k or more main memory, just run wolf3d through some kind of heavy dos shell like Directory Freedom (19k). Pressing Alt-F5 on the exe makes it take up just enough memory that I can finally see the game through 256k and play with that minimized screen that bombs out on some feature-heavy exes. Woohoo!

Here's a new exe for the original HOS that should work better:

I'd highly recommend using Ripper's "removing the scales" tutorial Howling Wolf (here's the thread / site). I'm still exploring more options (now that I can actually see it somehow), but this one boosts the memory for the screen up quite a lot already! Mr Green
