i have beaten the game last night, and other than the level 11 bug and a small bug on level 18 in which the game crashes, i have not experienced anything else. the key in level 17 is attainable although i have not determined what the right pattern for the switches is. but all appears well.

The only two I noticed were the weapon switch bug with how it's not stored in the gamestate structure (which is more fun than annoying Razz ) and a small bug where a guard teleported and turned invisible at the beginning of level 4 when I tried to stab him, but that's in Wolf3d already, I believe.

The only bugs I've encountered are occasional game crashes (particularly level 5, which crashed randomly on me three times). The game just bombs out every now and then (not too often for me to be annoyed, though... "Heretic" and "Hexen" crash more often, and I paid $50 for both of them). No error messages of any kind. I haven't had time to really play it solidly, though, so I can't say much about level 11 on my end or anything beyond. I'll probably keep playing with the original EXE and see what happens, just out of curiousity. If it does crash, it'll just give me another excuse to go back and find all those secret goodies you guys have talked about (I think I found the level with the first "Challenge Level" on it, but couldn't find the secret elevator, and there are some other interesting puzzles I want to try again).

What's kind of strange is that, when I first played Spear Resurrection three years ago, it never crashed once on me at all while playing on my old Pentium "Wolf" machine. Totally stable. Then, three years later and a full format / reinstall of Windows on the same machine, I tried playing SR again and the game bombed out repeatedly on just the first level (to the point of being unplayable). And it was the exact same configuration as before, down to the letter. Couldn't figure it out at all. I got another PC and tried it out, and it worked fine, even though the configuration was about the same as well. Strange! Guess SR just didn't like my PC's karma Wink

For what it's worth, I'm playing it under Windows 98SE on a PIII 500 with about 600K free conventional RAM.

I just wanted to say WOW before I get into the negative and the positive.

Negatives: Bug on level 11 (NOW FIXED)
Bug on level 17 and most of all WAITING
The multiple keys (2 of one color) annoyed me. I don't know why
Couldn't understand the bosses

Positives: The level design was excellent and ID soft couldn't have topped it.
New features blended with the game nicely to give it an update to the 21st century
Killer Graphics for SOD engine
Great new Gameplay while keeping the old Wolf's classic style
The new death animation when you hit something with a rocket launcher
The last level was GREAT. It was exactly as I anticipated since the release of the instruction booklet

overall grade: A(+) (once the bugs ae fixed)

Found a bug. Not a major one - just a possible little "exploit."

I made it to the first challenge level. I saved my game after getting rid of those first four Superclones and the three officers. Then, I loaded my saved game later. I found that, although I hadn't yet picked up the pistol (it's in that locked room), I had one in my inventory, along with eight bullets. (I might've picked up two of the officer's clips, which would explain the eight bullets.) But, seeing as it's only the pistol and it wouldn't do much good anyway, it's not a showstopper.

DAMN that level was hard.

How did you dispose of those 4 super clones? Lead them into the fire? Or go around them to grab the key to teh red-locked door?

:O Surprised :O I beat the game jsut a few minutes ago.
I was using the New revised EXE (v1.01)
No problems on level 11.
Thanks to chris's hex hack, I was able to get past the broken wall.
The last level is awesome, all the old ... I won't say anymore

I found 2 secret levels and 1 challenge level (off of lvl 12)
too hard lol

Great game guys. I had fun.
Also I have a saved game of every level :> from 4-26

Gfx: 10/10 Amzing GFX, especially on the higher levels. The floor and ceiling textures go great.

Snd: 9.5/10 Nice sounds, although sometimes I couldn't hear what they were saying.

Gameplay: 10/10 Nice gameplay, the flame walls, the rocket turrets, directional sprites (windows railngs etc)
On some levels I also had to really think, like on level 3, that flame tunnel, you could just go down... nope not spoiling it.

Features 10/10: All the lastest features are in this game including Atmosphere, Ceiling/Floor Textures, Fullscreen, teleporters, re incarnation (Ultra Clone), animated walls, flame walls Laughing , directional sprites.

Weapon: 10/10: even though I used the Machine in like 75% of all combat, the other weapons are cool. I like the panzer

Other: I really like the variety of artifacts, the 1 stab knife :>, god mode, regernater, teleporter, I was suprised I never saw the
death artifact used a lot like in SR, infact, the only level I recall seeing them on was on level 14.

Overall: 10/10 Nuff said Smile

I led them into the fire. It was tough luring them in, but if you stay in the room with the switch and peer down the hallway, you should be able to see them as they enter the hallway (it's not safe to try to lure them in while the fire's on, obviously).

I beat it on Saturday December 4th 2004 at 11:49 P.M on Tournament. Smile That was Effing awesome. Very Happy Well Done. But Razz Areyep. You stole some of my old MOD ideas. I.E: Soldier spawns, Switch/remote controlled walls, if you walk into a certain area, doors surrouding it open to reveal S.S soldiers or worse. I had a lot of ideas. But you did them before i do. so congrats on the Awesome Game. Smile

I've beaten the game (even if it was only on the easiest level). Incredible game! Definitely, as I've said, this TC has raised the bar for all WolfTCs. Good job.

Forgot to mention, If you were wondering, the difficulty I beat it in was Grandma!!!!
Seriously, I can't do Bring em on and down because I can't starfe in wolf3d and that's a technique you need to do with the harder difficulty, the starfling in wolf is weird :\

Actually Dan... While these guys have compeleted the game, I seriously doubt that they have found all the levels (secret and Challenge). And I bet their scores aren't that high either, as it looks like it was more a race than anything...

I guess it depends on how you play the game. Play it for 100% ratios, all secret and super secret levels found, and all challenge levels found, and I'm sure that it will take them longer than it has. I guess they were out to see who could beat it first.

Enjoy it (I did). Take your time. Savour all the tricks, strategies, graphics, and engine enhancements. I know if people do, and find everything in the game, it will give an even greater reward of the feeling of accomlishment.

That's what I usually do, just take my time, and look for the secrets. Besides the secrets usually have the cool stuff in them. Even though I haven't played EOD much. Also most people if they beat it tend to do it on the easiest mode.

I will say that if you haven't hit a secret level by level 3.. then you have missed the start of all the fun. And just for everyone's enjoyment, secret levels can have secret levels from them...Smile

I beat the game a couple of months ago, then finally, *finally* figured out how to get into that secret room in the 4th Challenge Level, so I'm starting back there before posting my high score in the Forums.

Some interesting, I might add - I found all the secret levels *except* the first one. Shrug

Damn! That level was so hard. I barely lasted 10 seconds in it!

that level is off of UC Blue IC Red.

Damn! That level was so hard. I barely lasted 10 seconds in it!

I not only found it, but I was eventually able to last the whole 3 minutes (It took saving the game in seven different places, though; I must have re-loaded the same game literally a hundred times or more).

Here's part of the secret to surviving. You'll find four dead-end tunnels that are one square wide. One has a Pushwall to the left when you reach the end. Behind that wall is a Teleport bubble. Use this thing to go back and forth, sending the bosses on a "Wild Goose Chase".

Also note that if you time it right, you can attract the attention of the missile lauchers to make them shoot the bosses! I got three or so killed that way. And I didn't even fire a single shot. Cheesy Grin
