I use infinity machine with wolf3d,
I was able to find the address for
no clipping in the commercial version.
I was wondering if no clipping is
available in rott and if anyone ever
found the address in ram?
With wolf3d, I had the shareware
version to compare with. Since no
clipping works with shareware, I
was able to find the address and apply the same technique with the
commercial version. I would like
to get no clipping in rott also, if
possible.

Are you trying to write
a poem, or are you just
writing in an incredibly
annoying way for no
particular reason?

Also, if you really wanted
to know if ROTT had no
clipping, you could just
download the source code
and look it up, which I would
assume would be far easier
than looking up the RAM
address.

Seriously, how can you
constantly write like this?
It's already becoming
incredibly annoying to keep
hitting the enter key after
every few words.

I guess this site isn't opera browser friendly, I only had a small box to type my message in
if that's what you are referring to.
I am not a coder, so looking at any source code would be futile.

Heh. I have to thank you xtgold. You got me into two new things in the last few hours. One was the ROTT Source Code, and the other was Infinity Machine.

Unlike wolf3d, ROTT doesn't seem to have a tag built into memory that you can toggle on and off clipping with (all the signs of one in the source are not there). It'd be easy to create no clipping by just commenting out the player walking functions where they check for obstacles though (say, by erasing the contents of PlayerSlideMove() in RT_PLAYR.C so your x,y,z co-ordinates will ALWAYS change when you slide). You can get a good idea of where everything in ROTT is just by looking at the ROTT.MAP file:

::: CODE :::
0004:0001a0f4+ _CurrentSpecialsTimes
0004:0001a134  _GRAVITY
0004:0001a138  _characters
0004:0001a19c  _godmode
0004:0001a19d  _missilecam
0004:0001a1a0  _missobj
0004:0001a1a4+ _KX

So to toggle on godmode, just change the memory address of 1A19C to 01 (true)... for example. Smile

I've been playing around with memory alot myself lately too. Very fun...

That's just a regular wolf3d example I did from E4L1. It starts at around 0x8000, and goes through all the different near main memory sections while playing (65536 bytes). The top middle is the spotvis (tracks what you're looking at), top right is the 149 enemies and all their info, and the bottom right is the actorat stuff; for instance. It's interesting to watch your memory in action, seeing what pops up when you do certain things, observing how different areas change and how much they are used and/or altering (especially when you figure out what everything is for from looking at the Wolf3d.map file and comparing).

It took me awhile to find Infinity Machine. Windows XP doesn't seem to like com files, so the program only installs and works for me in DosBox. How do you actually see the memory and edit it with the program, or even fix it so you can do something with a certain memory block? It's folder contains several readme files, but none of them explain how to work the program or any of the options... they just advertize it and list places in memory that relate to aspects from certain games. If I run it with a /? tag, it lists a few options, but just basic things like turning it off and using different kinds of memory. It'd be nice to have a better readme file, or some insight on the general options you can do with it; if you don't mind sharing some info.

I'm surprised you even found infinity machine.
I bought it back in the early 90's and have to load it using the manual.
It was the copy protection where you have to type in a word from page x
or the file wouldn't install. Reminds me of the SOD ritual that was bypassed.
I run it in real DOS, I partition my hd with 2gig set aside just for DOS/win98.
People used to post address locations years ago for different games, but the
address locations will vary from machine to machine and even on the same
machine if you make changes. I just had to redo all my cheat files because I
started using emm386 to get my pci sound card working in DOS, which is another
fiasco. That shifted all the cheat address locations.
Off on a tangent, but redneck rampage disables the cheat codes in psycobilly mode.
I was able to find the god mode, no clipping and all guns/ammo for that. You still can't
save the game in that mode though.
