Yes, a more editable version is available for download. But so far, no one's dared to release a "Spear: Resurrection" mod with modified graphics. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like the Commander is prepared to attempt this. Mouth Shut

Uh, don't you think it's wrong to assume that Steve will be ready and willing to answer any question brought forward in a thread he didn't even authorize? Think

That's not to say he definitely won't answer... but wouldn't it have been cooler to ask him first and make a real event out of it? That way there would be a bigger response. Just my two cents.

BUT you will have to modify the code to handle those files, 'cause it is hardcored for us trying to hack this EOD by looking at debug mode which it is used to open cheats for you to use them... Too Cool

To be able to edit the EOD source, you have to really know what you're doing, which many of use don't, however many such as Poet, Ripper, Chris, Dugtrio17, and Codetech84 (or is it 86) are. (not saying that those are the only ones.

Second, why are you jumping right to wanting the EOD source? What about Spear Ressurection? Thats a good one too. Think

OK! first off... you can download the editors version of spear ress AND you can edit graphics with Floedit v.1...

Not really, as been brought up many times, you dont need to be a whiz kid to code. look at me, i've been passing myself off as a coder for ages <.<

errr.... *cough*

anywayz, as long as you look at it for long enough, the code will slowly change from:

::: CODE :::
 if (gamestate.ammo == 8)
   NEIN!
else
   NEIN!


to something more understandable. EoD code wouldnt be much different to any of the other sources out there anyway I dont think Shrug

Well, as Adam Biser (or was it someone else? I can't remember right now) said, the code isn't quite as complex as it's cracked up to be. Its range of C commands and code structure is rather simplistic.

However, I'm a *real* dumbbell with C at the current time. At the moment, I do little more than Copy and Paste other's tutorials. My main accomplishments involving independent coding are modifying the music part of the code, fixing the "Out of Memory!" errors when you die, and making an expanded version of Wolfenstein's GFX.H file. BASIC is really my forte at the moment.

To me, that sounds like Chinese, which I dont know any of. Even that sounds complexed. All that I know what to do is change ammo, and health amount, change floor and cieling colors, make units run faster, and make them drop other things during death (and removing death cams.)

Almost forgot, making bosses shoot other things.

Well it sounds to me like you've learnt a fair bit already.

Surely you cant expect to just understand the whole code straight away - It's a learning process.

I was totally lost when i started but through doing coding, making mistakes and learning from them, as well as help from others, you learn how to do things. It just takes time. The only advice i can give is just back up your code each time before doing any coding in case you stuff something up. If you do mess something up, dont just give up, have a look at what you've changed and at what the error is saying. Try to fix it, you might just surprise yourself, and learn something new through the process!

I gotta agree with Dean here, the coding is a learning process and you start from the bottom of the food chain. When I started coding we didn't have much tutorials around and memory was very limited. I say it is easier to start coding now as it was then. Back then there wasn't much experienced coders to help us noobs out. We did have a few message boards though where we exchanged knowledge, but all in all it was pretty primitive. I guess the threshold to experiment with the code was a bit lower than it is now. Well anyway, keep on tweaking you'll learn in the process if you got interest. As I propably posted somewhere else, my first coding change was to change the name of the first episode, and that was it for me, it was like a new world had opened.

So keep on coding kids... Geek

Edit: I really got to concentrate on my spelling a bit more.

yeah, but all that is is replacing numbers or lines with ones similar, not accually knowing what character does what and how the code works.
