...So have I... And Chokage isn't bad at all (not a favourite of mine but, it commands respect), but I wouldn't have said it stands out.
But you have your reasons, I suppose.

what can I say... I thoroughly enjoyed it! I'd give chris a million bucks to play it again (but I won't because I don't have to Razz ); the graphics (looking from different angles... free shot, stupid head, lard ass Laughing ), the original style of levels, and the sounds all blend together to create a great game.
On an interesting sidenote, I played wolfendoom with Chokage graphics about 2 weeks ago... very interesting...

I have played Chokage, and I love it! I love the bit where U can go around and see stories in the DOS box. It is really good, the sprites were not the coolest but they are funny and irrelevant to everything! That is cool! Well Done Chris Chokan! Chokage is heaps good!

At first, I thought I was insane for playing Chokage, but somehow a mixture of older graphics and orginal ones (like the Athlete guy...haha) go well together. Its amusing...yet.... entertaining at the same time.

as you guys say, it stands out the most.

This is an old topic but worth starting up again, I think. I love reviewing stuff, so...

I'm not a huge fan of "Funny" Wolf3D sets, but Chokage is an exception. I don't think I ever even finished it back then (will have to rectify that in a few days...), but I was blown away by all the changes Chris made with just hex editing.

Chokage is in a league of its own...It's a totally different game that almost doesn't feel like a Wolfenstein game anymore, but instead something totally unique. In one of my older reviews for it at my website years back, I said "After I played Chokage, I felt as if I had just undergone a backstreet lobotomy. Chokage is sick, disgusting, repulsive, degrading, unsafe for minors and disrupts family values...In other words, it's delicious!". I still stand by it :)

The only thing that sucks about it is the saving option...

when I try to save the game, it says that it saves it, but when I load it, it goes back to level 1.

That is most probably not a problem with Chokage, but I don't know because I have only completed it once about four years ago. It was without saving. See if it happens with normal Wolf3D - it might just be a user error.

*An important note*

Since this is forum is essentially a community, replace your language in the "location" sector of your basic profile to something less vulgar. It doesn't have to be true of course, but that kind of language does nobody any good...

Yeah, I wanted to see how long people could last on Krazzy Chokage without saving; hence why those slots don't record your stats when you save, and just send you back to level 1. The challenge to get as far as you can before dying will be recorded in the form a highscore entry once you die your last man (or actually beat the entire game without saving in Krazzy Chokage). It's weird, I guess, but that's all part of the challenge factor. Wink

Alot of those tricks would be so much easier and more effective to create now, with the Source Code. The element of fun is sort of lost by programming everything the professional way, though, I find... I dunno.

Interesting... I didn't encounter this when I played through back then. But here I am playing it through again for nostalgia value with the save option like you described. Maybe I didn't save that often last time... my skills must have deteriorated since then. Damn you, weight-lifter guy!!!

Nice avatar, Chris

I love Chokage, unfortunately the Acorn files that Chokan showed me just contain episode 1,
and hence the actual Batch file is absent i cannot enter the password, and even then it would produce the .MAN files that have different names so i cannot easily find the GAMEMAPS file.

I got Dosbox to work with End of Dragons, thanks to Soldat555 he was a good sport writing me a PM tutorial, i tried to use his technique to run Commander Keens DOS installation file, but it just puts out the "Commander_Keen is an Illegal command" shit.

So i dunno if i can get Chokage to work on Dosbox, once i got it working but i dunno how it just decided to work but then when i quit the game, and tried to do it again it refused.

Dosbox lets you bring the shitastic frustrating thrills of Dos command prompts into todays Incompatibility of Vista and XP
BUT AT LEAST XP RAN CHOKAGE

DosBox aside,
What i loved about Chokage was it's long README file, it brought the game to life so to speak, you need to read the readme to get most of the stuff in chokage,
i loved the whole menu thingie too, and the Stupidness section was a great gem, it's just a shame that Stupidness hasen't been expanded upon.

Even if Chris never makes Chokage 2.0 Overdue by 5 years now, it would be great if he could at least expand his stupid stories.

Dude, this thread is nearly 5 years old and was about voting about how you liked the mod, not all the rest of the crap you are discussing.

Did you even vote?

Man, please, we've spoken to you about necroposting and also about keeping threads on subject.

It's your duty to delete or lock old topics, this is a program and hence if somebody is not supposed to do something you make it so they cannot.
otherwise you basically gave consent to let them do it, by still making it possible to post in old topics you basically wavered any right to tell people not to.
so really i have an excuse, you don't

extra pointers.
1. I voted
2. I discussed Chokage
3. the reason that posting messages is available here is for the purpose of talking about the poll
4. MOOOOOON!
5. AreyeP owns this site
6. but *looks at the bottom* the phpBB manufacturer is the provider of this message board
7. Whatever Whatever everyone does what they want, short of whats unnacceptable behaviour for say a real conversation
8. Stop hijacking topics with irrelevant "oh blah blah this topic is 50 million years old, and was discovered in an ancient indian burial ground and reconstituted online for read only purposes only, why you post in such an old topic, why why why why why why why why why why TELL ME! I WANNA KNOW WHYYYYY!
9. get your eyes checked
10. if said eyes are fine, then you have a habit of reading but not digesting, or skip reading where you just glance at some words in a sentence but don't actually learn it.
11. eat plenty of vegetables and drink 8 glasses of water a day
12. you can tell your getting enough fluids if your pee is light yellow or clear as water
13. make sure you get 30 mins of excersise everyday
14. never point metal in the Microwave, and this includes foil
15. respect your elders
16. Just because this place has no problems besides porn spammers doesn't mean we need to agonise over trivialised personal niggles about eachother.
17. Do something about the spammers and stop picking on me just for being new.
18. GoogleBot is seemingly the cause of these porn advertisements.

let me make an analogy for you, if 5 years ago a bunch of people talked about how they didn't like the Doom movie, then 5 years later they talked about it again, and one of them says "this is 5 years old now, we cannot talk about it" and there we go we have a real conversation equivelant of your ramblings.

Let me put it this way. When a topic gets this old, unless you're talking about some substantial development, what you say is no longer relevant, and it's often better to keep your mouth and\or keyboard shut if you have nothing useful to say. Generic comments usually do not cut it.

Ok here we go...

Administration Hat ON!

At this time I am acting, as set out by the forum rules, and giving you your last and FINAL warning. You have been asked by moderators, and by myself previously, to please stop with this. And you then just throw it back in our faces like we are the ones doing something wrong.

Not going to happen. Not on these forums. You are requested to once again read the rules and follow them as the next step will be a ban of duration I will decide if the need arrises. I particularly want you to pay special attention to the Basic Rules C - through - F !

You have now been warned for the last and final time. Failure to follow the rules will result in your loss of access to the forums.. possibly permanently. So don't push the issue. You can probably tell that I am tired of being pushed by you and so are the moderators and members of this forum.

I would normally have done this in a private PM but I tried that already and you didn't care then either. So... here it is for everyone to view.

To All other Members:

Please stop bickering or being suckered into things by this person. Please stop the backseat moderating, and follow the rules as well. We have moderators specifically for these purposes and unless you let them do their job, you are demeaning them and their authority.

This thread is locked! - The comments are over and I just want everyone to try and get along without pissing off those others around you. Call me a hardass, whatever, but in cases like these, I protect the forums. The needs of the many outweight the needs of the few or the one. I will not allow people to be chased away or detered from joining this place because of the actions of one (or a few).

The rules are there for a reason... and yes, there are times when we let things slide a little, but it does not mean that they aren't the rules we expect to be followed. It is up to each person to read the rules, understand them, and then moderate themselves. When you personally can't do it.. We will moderate and set things straight.

With that said...

Administration Hat OFF

And as a side note, you might want to get off the high horse and stop acting like some sort of know-it-all. As I said previously in the PM, you need to get your facts straight and stop believing that you're always right... In the shit gibberish that I left out of the quoted post above, 2 things scream you haven't got a farking clue.

Gibberish wrote:

AreYeP does not own the site. MCS does.
And the forums exist here as a gift from MCS to ME!
MCS gave me this area on his site to do what I wanted with.
I accepted his gift of the forum software that he installed on this little section of the AreYep site.
Yes, the software is phpBB.
The provider of these forums is ME.
I choose the modifications... I write the code and do the modifications... I maintain the databases... I fix things when things go wrong... And after some discussion with Martin and Steve, I chose to allow others to moderate with the intension of that allowing me to relax and enjoy things a little around here.

And if you knew what you were talking about, you would see that there are 3 admins. MCS, AreYeP, and myself. The three of us started and built this place, and I was given the job of being the voice of the three to everyone using the forums. It was part of the deal. While in the background, the three of us decided how to handle things.. What the rules would be... And who needed to be moderated... I was to be the one voice handing out the moderation.

Those are the facts. The Truth..
