I always liked listening to WARMARCH when fighting the bosses, this was on my old 386 when we used it 10 years ago. I just liked the drums and trumpet in it.

Thomas, the ones you posted are almost the exact top 3 I hate in Wolfenstein.
My Top 3:

Funky Colonel Bill
Jazzing the Nazis
Tie between Nazi Rap and Lurking...

Lurking, Twelth Hour, Funk You, Into the Dungeons, SS Gonna Get You (or whatever the song's name is). Twelth Hour especially, because it's got such a tense atmosphere about it. WSJ's midi of it enhances the feel when it gets coverted to an IMF, or at least to me.

Wondering About My Loved Ones is an excellent tune for the menu screens. It quite literally gets me all physched up every time it plays.

"Pounding Headache" (Episodes 2 and 5, Levels 4 and 7) is probably my favorite of the bunch, although that tune in Level 10 of Episode 6 plays a *very* close second.

XPUTIT_MUS (Level 17 from Spear of Destiny) always scared the crap out of me.

I'm putting mostly original tunes into IceWolf, but I think I can make one exception for this song, because it is so scary.

Hello,

I can't hear the music on my copy of Wolfenstein 3D.

Here: I had already a full version (copied from a friend)
that never had music on. (Actually I had the shareware
version since it came out, to reply to another thread
at once).

So I bought the thing to get the music, and also
the game Sod which I never had (It's a uk red sleeve cd
with the XPLOSIV tag, so anyone wants to
know which copy I have).

It still doesn't play any music.

I just hear the sound effects.

Is the music playing only on the upper level ?
The jukebox says there are only 5 (or was it 6) songs.

The Adlib Soundblaster case is selected
but I am not sure if Windows XP can read it ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Cedric

Well duh, that was so easy.

Thanks a lot !!!

I had dosbox, but I usually only use it with games
that don't start by themselves, and Wolf3d never had any problems
starting.

Also, I never really had any sound problems with games in
either dosbox or non-dosbox.

But forget dosbox: it was downloading that VDM
thing and running it through that worked, because
in dosbox I encountered yet another problem which
was a first for me: it played the sound indeed but
when I pressed alt-ent to get whole screen everything went dark.

Bizarre.

Anyway, thanks a lot,
I.m no diehard wolfie
but I'm playing this for nostalgia's sake,
and I think the trilogy Catacomb-Wold3D-Doom
will always be remembered and played.

Cheers

Funky Colonel Bill, Get Them Before They Get You are 2 of my favorites, plus the unused track that is floor 1-1 on SNES Wolf.

PS: if anyone wants them I have a collection of every PC Wolf/Spear song in Midi format. Most are by me, some from Bobby Prince's site, and I edited Funky Colonel Bill for use with my ZDoom Wolfenstein wad. Some sound quite good, but others suck royally. If anyone wants them, PM me.

my Favorite Wolf3D Tune is the Ultimate Challenge and Zero Hour
and Evil Incarnate from Doom 2 the song was originally written for Wolfenstein 3D which only supported FM synthesizers
(ie. no foot step sounds)

here are the tune links

Actually, Prince said in the notes of this tune that the SOD version actually *had* footstep sounds on his soundcard. On genuine SB cards and Adlib cards though, it didn't, which he didn't realize until it was too late.

sorry for the extra post, but, I also like the music from WSJ's TC's, such as WOV demo and Project Eisenritter, and Areyep's sets. They are all on my ipod (yes, im a wolf3d freak).
