I like the Turquoise ceiling more. I think having the same color ceiling walls and ceilings works especially well with blue, I don't think it works so well with red for some unknown reason..... Confused

I like the red ceiling...mainly because I love color coordination. But thats just my opinion.

Although I think the red looks better, I'd actually recommend you use a dark shade of yellow. You see, red is a color that increases anger and frustration, and you wouldn't want your level to frustrating. The color yellow has pretty much the opposite effect of red - it increases happiness; it's especially great for use in those really hard parts of your levels. Smile

Actually, you can also try a dark green color for the ceiling.
Red & green are complimentary colors.

Very pretty looking levels. I can't wait to see the final products of these. For the first one I'd go with the torquoise, it just gives this retro feel to it for some weird reason. The second one stick with the tan it works well with the sandstone and the wood.

Interesting thread. With me, the ceiling color almost depends on what I'm going for in the level. If it's supposed to be more upper-class and extravagant looking, I like to go with brighter colors. If it's supposed to be drab, like a prison or barracks or caves, I like to go with darker colors. That's a pattern I've noticed: the more extravagant levels in episode 5 and 6 especially have lighter ceiling colors, while the drab levels in episodes 1-4 usually have drab colors. That's not always a general rule though. Lighter colors also tend to be more garish and stand out, so they can enhance the weirdness factor of a level if that's what you're going for. Look at episode 2 level 5 - it's an incredibly unique and fairly weird level that has a bright color to enhance that feeling.

In the end, it's really up to you. Now that ceiling textures are very do-able, a lot of people will opt for them. For those of us who have a hard time finding ceiling textures that look decent, though, ceiling colors still do the job. And I like the look of them.

I really like that blue color! Also, I thought this was going to be a classic map set, it got me really excited to play a classic map set again, but I see the custom textures in there. No offense, but why? It doesn't need them and what I have seen looks really nice with the classic art.

Oh and I'd definitely go with the darker grey as I'm not a fan of using the same color as the floor unless you have to. JMO.

Well I'm guessing it couldn't have been a mapset cause it'd still need an exe, but you could've just released the exe and the gamemaps and maphead files, but still my opinion still stands.

I think the stained glass wall you got there is from LE, which is ok, but the normal stained glass are better IHO. The only problem you could run into from using a vswap with only a few art changes is flack from ID, because technically its not legal, but yet its done ALOT and not noticed. But I agree with trying to keep original Wolf style on this one, because it really sparked my interest when I first saw it. Anyway, I didn't mean to commandeer your mod or anything, just stating my opinion. Good luck with this, and I'll be definitely downloading it when it hits the dome.

Entire walls, I agree with you. But I found a sign on a locked door that I really liked, so I placed it on one of my new wooden walls. It looks great. Thumbs Up

Not sure why I did this: I guess I have a personal investment in this mod Smile. But since I'm not to keen on that LE stain wall being in there (it looks out of place). I offered up some alternatives for you if you're interested. I just edited the LE stain wall to be more wolf3d accurate.

There shaded versions respectively.

Oh and not that I have anything against the checkerboard I made one by editing the marble tiles so it may fit the "wolf style" a bit closer:

Wow, it really does blend in perfectly. Nice job. I'm anxiously awaiting the final product.
