Hmm, the ceiling in the first shot suits the walls well but gives
a bit too "depressive" feeling...

The next shot ceiling reminds me of original Wolfenstein and
one level from Operation Eisenfaust (althoug I think it ceiling was green or cyan)

Well, this depends on should the ceiling fit walls or the overall-layer.

Try a green that matches the main vine color perfectly. I've never seen anyone try that before it would certainly look cool and make the vines look more like they are growing from the ceiling. JMO of course. Like this

Well if you haven't already you can see the results above. It's really the only time you can make a color match a sprite.

I'd go with slightly lighter, it is really close to matching the vines and you can still see them well. Oh real quick, send me the sprite of the vines (I'm not at home) I'm gonna add some shadows to them and see how they look, I always wondered how the vines would look with shadows.

I stand by the dark yellow/brown ceiling. Dismal and feculent is the way to go.

Well I guess it all depends what he's looking for. The yellow makes it look like its covered in the same slime as the walls, the brown looks like its dirt and is underground with a dirt ceiling, and the green makes it look covered in moss and slime like the vines.

Aaaah yes, I love that spear texture. Nicely used, and the black ceiling gives it this dark cave like feeling. Really varied looking levels you got going on here, nice themes all around. I'm happy to see this make progress, and I'm definitely gonna give it a go when you're done.

You'll find the blue prison walls work pretty well with a black ceiling also, although it makes for a pretty dark level. Of course it all depends on the 'mood' of the particular level your working on.

I think that dark grey or dark brown would suit better, sure black is a nice and dark color, but maybe the player might get confused and think it is an outside area. Black seems too dark and too outof place in that particular room if you ask me, but then again, I'm 16, what the heck do I know?

Well, yeah there is that, but black looks a little out of place since there are no black colors from the bricks fading into the blackened ceiling, but then again, that's just my opinion.

I try to make my mods as realistically as possible. Saying that it's hard to imagine too many Nazi prison's that have secret walls in them!

On these prison levels i usually make a section with a type of guard post (usually where i also put one of the keys) and it's in this section where i'll put a secret room or passage. A Nazi prison cell with a secret room that has treasure, health and a chaingun in it is just really hard to believe!

I guess it depends how easy/hard you want to make your secret. I guess that making it the cell in a wall of just stone does make the secret stand out a bit.

It's a bit hard woithout really seeing the exact colours and also which ceiling colour your planning on using.

I guess it also depends if this is a boss level or a level that leads to a secret.
