Drawn and Quartered, a brand new wolf mod by ME!

Its done and ready to go. Originally done for the mod in a week, when I realised I wasn't going to make the deadline I decided to wait and release it on April 1st.

Credits go out to Dugtrio, and Adam Biser. Also special thanks to Quickman (who I forgot to add in the credits but will tomorrow) who did the cinema art.

Here's two separate links that were uploaded by Dugtrio17, enjoy!

Be sure to read the STORY SO FAR.rtf before playing to get an idea on the story of the game, plus so you can get a look at of some of the cinema gfx.

WOW Shocked
Great game! It's been quite a while since I played a game with so many new ideas!
I especially like the endless corridors and those mushroom trees!

Thanks Ringman!
And I thought, this was an Aprils fool Mr Green

Thanks you guys!

The last level is based off of a real world place, too. (I won't say anything so not to spoil anything yet) but many of the rooms and such in there are actually made to have the layout of that place.

The other level ideas came from suggestions made by my college buds. Especially the 2nd level which my friend Tom just blurted out of nowhere and made me think, "Now how the hell am I going to convincingly pull that off? Laughing."

Brilliant! I like the concept of black and white, and sketch artwork. Definitely a refreshing idea on the scene.

Good work Thumbs Up

Well, you can make a mod like this. Almost all of the art was hand drawn on notebook paper and then scaled down and palettized. Many of the animations were done with 3 or 4 frames (very simplistic). I actually drew all the enemies in one day. I just started pulling weird enemies out of my ass, I wanted to come up with several varied themes. So there is a blob from MBFU3D in stylized form, a little wizard, a robot, a skeleoton with a rambo belt and six shooters, and a gray alien.

The weapons were (if you couldn't tell) an eraser, a straw with spitwads, the arm of the robot, and a dream gun.

The levels were all suggestions from my friends, I said give me some ideas that are weird, I don't care what they are or even if they have any relevance to each other.
The second level was the one I was afraid would never work.
The last level was based off of parts of my college, and the gym and stuff were based off of a part of my highschool.

Keep the opinions coming! And don't feel afraid to give out constructive criticism, this is only my third mod. I appreciate the comments so far (especially from Leo and Ripper since you guys are pretty tough critics!)

Maybe these 3 level mods should become a speciality for you Ringman. You come up with really great ideas for them!

I liked the game, the only criticsm i have (and you asked for it) was that i personally had trouble distinguishing the characters from the background. Maybe it's just my older eyes, but i died quite a few times where i heard a voice, turned to see if anyone was there, couldnt see anything, next thing i was dead.

I understand it would have been really hard to keep the whole hand drawn black and white theme going by changing this. i'm going to play through again, so i suspect my eyes will be more used to what i'm looking for this time.

The visibility factor kind of adds to it, by making it harder to pick out your enemies. Watch for movement and you'll do fine.

This was great, one of the best ideas I've seen in a while. I really liked the music too, it fitted the atmosphere like... um... a glove, or something.

I thought it should have been longer than three levels at first, but on reflection I think the idea might have gotten a little old by that point, seen as it basically was a gimmick mod. Perhaps the best gimmick mod I've ever played though Wink

Anyway, great work, very fun, awards, blahdy blah blah blah.

Heh, I'd be lying my ass off if I said this was a chore to beta test. Even when I tested the last level that late night that I needed sleep, I found enjoyment in playing it. The visibility issue sort of adds to the challenge, especially with some tricks such as the diver in level two (I still shoot at that bloody thing).
I <3 these minimods.

Don't give up Tricob there's all sorts of things you can do. The wolf engine still has life in it yet!

@Dugtrio: I love making these things. The nice thing about these games is there easy and fun to make I don't get stressed making them because they're done before I get the chance. There short but fun to play and people don't get stressed about beating them.

There may be more around the corner....

Game was great, had much fun. Here are the pros and cons I saw throughout the game -

Pros-
Very creative
Awesome themes
Very creative
Awesome ideas
Very creative
Very fun levels
Very creative
The hall effect in the last level was awesome
Very creative

Cons-
With the black-and-white everything and everything looking the same, it becomes difficult to separate enemies and items from the background, non the less find pathing in the levels, therefore I easily get lost.

I'm certainly not giving up on my current upcoming TC. But my workshift *really* has to lighten up before I can get anything accomplished with it ... Rolling Eyes

Awesome mod, and very unique concept...I don't remember seeing anything like it before (except Wolf 5k, and the blew chunks...this is much better). It definitely has a feel all it's own, but it's weird...it feels like you're actually in a strange world with real cutout sprites and stuff around you. Playing other Wolf mods, the cartoony look of the sprites allows them to serve their purpose, but I never felt like they were real objects surrounding me. Is this making any sense?

Thanks for describing the weapons...that was one thing I was a little unclear on. I was curious why the backgrounds still have little splashes of color here and there...was that intentional? Just curious. Yes, I love everything about this game, except for how it makes things look pink when you look around you after playing it for a while... Shocked Razz

Good to hear from you Majik and yes the splashes of color were intentional my paper had blue lines so some blue appears here and there, I just thought it would be cool to leave the color that appears.

and yeah that makes sense I wanted it to look like they were cut outs I was thinking along the lines of the old Paddington bear show. It had a stop motion bear but all the backgrounds and people were cut out from paper and stood up like a popup book. This whole idea came to me while I was drawing up stuff on my notepad. I started drawing some wolf style enemies on my notebook and thought, wouldn't it be neat if I could just scan these in and make them sprites, and well then I thought why not? I was suprised the scans retained so much quality after being resized. I definitely urge other people to try this its a neat way to make sprites and stuff.

Thanks for the compliments. Hope to hear from you some more.
