You as a player was stuck into a mines of some sort and you had to get out. The game used somekind of Doom Engine. The enemies were wierd guys shooting blue spheres but also guys with flamethrowers. They could shoot eachother just like in Doom. Only flaw is, I can't remember the games name. If anyone has a clue what I am talking about, please enlighten me more. Thanks!

Maybe you can find what you're looking for from the Doom Wiki.
Let me know if you find it, I'd like to know the game too.

Found it. The games name is Depth Dwellers. As I remembered it used somekind of engine between Wolf3d and Doom and was released some months after Doom. Here is a screenshot:

http://www.dosgames.com/ss.php?filename=depthdwellers.gif

And we all know why this game didn't have any success. DoomMania was running WILD!!

To Thomas: Is it possible in Wolf3d that enemies start to shoot eachother? Very Happy

Chex Quest?

There's also Strife ( http://doom.wikia.com/wiki/Strife ) and HacX ( http://doom.wikia.com/wiki/HacX )
This also looks interesting: http://doom.wikia.com/wiki/Amulets_%26_Armor
Ha! it even has an orb: "Find the stolen Orb of Destruction" Laughing

That's a nice site, Codetech, thanks for pointing it out.

Yeah, the screenshots got me excited, too ... despite a scathing review by Home Of The Underdogs. I never was able to get the game to install, though.

Strife is my favorite of the doom based games, rpg elements, good plot, a fps with an actual plot, very good game.

Chex Quest? Never played it, but hearing about it reminds me another game called Mr. Pibb or something like that. It uses a engine similar to something in between Doom and Duke Nukem 3d if I remember correctly. Dude, I wish I still had a copy of that game, it was pretty fun. Have any of you peoples ever played it?

Oh man speaking of Doom engine games anyone remember Quiver? Its kind of like a bare bones doom, but still kinda fun to play.

Then there was that other game, I never tried it but it was like a Doom rpg kind of called Amulets and Armor:

Then there's this weird wolf looking game that I could never get to work, though I don't think I've tried dosbox yet

http://www.the-underdogs.info/game.php?id=2626

Anyway just throwing out some stuff that you guys may not have heard of.

Sure we know Quiver.... a game that was made specially non-violent for children, but was really crappy, though used 3d items and such

Amulets and Armor...hmmm, don't remember.....looks nice though

Another "non-violent" version of Wolfenstein that most haven't heard of is called "Bobenstein". I've yet to see it run on any machine that played sound effects on it.

EDIT: I did post a link to bobenstein3d but then I saw that the page contained pirated software, and wolf mods. I'll just post a screenshot if I get the chance.

Yeah I tried it out. It was made with that goofy Pie3d engine. I tried to use that engine before, but its not the greatest. Anyway here's a screenshot of the game:

How about Deadline, Skaphander, and Quiver. The other 2 look like Pie3d games, and I have played ShadowCaster.

That link isn't working anymore. Home of The Underdogs moved to http://www.hotud.org/ . Try there.

Edit: I looked at the link on archive.org and it was about Wrath of Earth. So I went to the new hotud.org and the link is here: http://web.archive.org/web/20071121075745/http://www.the-underdogs.info/game.php?id=2626

Well, if you're going to necrothread...

@Ringman: There is a Pathways into Darkness beta that uses Aleph One as a port. I'll try and find it later. As for Wrath of Earth (an absolutely brilliant game), you can find in on the place that Adam doesn't want me to name. It's the second Google result. *wink*
