Anyone knows how to add weapons that reload? like if you are out of ammo, the remaining ammo you have stored will be reloaded if you press R. not only reload I mean that the hand of BJ will move reloading the gun like in haunted house. I asked codetech but they didn't reply Sad can anyone tell me how to?

Adding reloading weapons is pretty complicated because of the engine that Wolfenstein 3d uses (it's so old and dosen't like new things being added to it)... but if anyone can do it, Dark One probably could...

I've finally got a way (cuz Martin wants it for Kreml), but I don't think I'll ever release it not for any pride factor or just wanting to keep it a secret, but for the simple reason that it's just so damn long and complicated! (not to mention a bit crude!) Laughing I'd surely screw something up, plus it's still not complete because I haven't had time to test it. I'm sure I can get it to work, but it without a doubt has holes in it that I need to fix.
This is something probably better figured out on one's own, since if a tutorial were released, it would probably require lots of game-specific tweaks anyway. If you're reading this and saying to yourself, "But dammit I'm not good with the source!" then just remember that I first started coding back in November. Experiment. Look at tutorials and tweak them to find out what does what. I remember when I first started coding for Kreml, I told Martin that I didn't think that I'd be able to do reloading. Well, I found out that I'm alot better with the code now than I was before. Just when I thought I might've been getting good with the code (and writing those INCREDIBLY silly tutorials on adding little portable medkits to wolf Laughing ) was when I started work on Kreml. After some more work on both Kreml and Battlestein (and a little side experimenting), I went back and looked at my project's code. It was a God-awful mess. When I was working on it, I obviously had no clue that you could do "gamestate.this++" or "gamestate.that--" and therefore invented a whole new GiveThis/GiveThat for each and every new gamestate.this and gamestate.that. Not to mention that nearly everything was based on tutorials! So once I'm through with my two current projects, I will complete a different inspiration that came to me (more on this another time, in another topic), then after that possibly take a break for a while then overhaul the whole code to that old project. But back to the topic at hand.
As I said, this (and some other things) is best left as a discovery, but I don't discorage (or encorage) anyone from writing a tutorial. Trust me, if you can't figure it out yet, experiment with something else for a while, then come back to it and see if any new skills will help you. You'll be pleased with the results Smile
Or if you're incredibly lazy you can beg and plead someone else to do it lol!!! Laughing Laughing Laughing

My old reloading code (The one in Haunted House) was made maybe 2 - 2,5 years back, so it's pretty crude code. The new reloading code I have made now is much easier to understand... Laughing

I never give away features, why should I make an exception, besides I hate add-ons that only use "tutorials" as a base for source code, that's CODE RIPPING!

I don't use tutorials because I take too much pride in my work! (In graphical effects [snowing, textured floor, directional 3d- sprites, etc...] I make an exception, please forgive me God for doing so Crying or Very sad .)

Good point, Raistlin...

The reason is because Codetech likes to brag, and frankly, he's too stuck-up to want to help anyone.

But I guess that since it's his code, he can do whatever he wants with it.

But yeah, there's no point in coming here just to say "I know how to do this code feature, so there! NYAH!"

Just try to be a little more tolerate of newbie coders; (maybe just de-angrifying your comments a little Wink ) you and I both were just like them at a time, and I'll bet the last thing we wanted to be told was to stop asking people for help Smile
I've actually been thinking about writing "basics" and "how this and that work" tutorials for a while; (a couple of months, actually) y'know, get started off on the right foot. Perhaps alot of us should try things like that. MCS did a great job with his weapon tutorial, and now look: even the newbiest of newbies can make a weapon faster or slower, have more frames, even fire multiple times! The Talent Mr. Leo also wrote the FadeOut thingy, which was another fine example. In the few tutorials I wrote, I try to explain what I'm doing (though I probably do a shoddy-ass job! Laughing ); this could help new people out in modifying and later writing their own tutorials.
And keep in mind that not sharing a particular part of the code isn't being greedy; remember that HH is still being worked on (right, Codetech?), so that would be like, for instance, Raistlin being forced to release his bullet time technique already, or wolf3dbreaker having to go ahead and release the code for all those friggin' weapons, no matter how long it took them to figure it out. You guys are proud of those things, right? Well, Codetech did something that no one else had done before, so I'm guessing he's pretty damn proud of it to.
And Wolf, while you're right, there's no point in coming here to brag (which we're all a bit guilty of... well most of us, I'm a little guilty myself), but remember, he has helped out some people, and he did offer at first to write a tutorial on it someday (which posted that post while I was typing that huge post!!! Argh!!!).
Not trying to take anyone's side, just so you know.

Very well put, Dan.

Everyone starts out as a newbie, so there's nothing wrong with that. In many ways, I'm still a newbie, and that's one of the reasons I felt a little annoyed by the attitude towards "newbies" of late. It does no good to practice "ranksmanship" in this community. We all have different talents, and even though we're not all good with coding, we can accomplish more by working together. Some of us may be better with graphics (like AReyeP), or sounds, or level-design. It would be good if we put our different talents together.

If we treat newbies with disrespect, we only run the risk of giving the community a bad reputation for being unfriendly.

I've found out a way on how to do it and have little numbers show you how many are loaded and how many stored, but I haven't managed to make it so when you press R or whatever it does a gun reloade picture sequence...

I've got one request. If you find out how to do this, don't tell it. I really don't want to see that feature in every damn add-on, the feature will only go old. That applies to all cool features... Crying or Very sad

First someone says that he has made a cool new feature in his add-on, then another one immedietally asks how to do it. That SUCKS. If all add-ons were alike, what new and fun could you ever create, besides, where's the challenge in stealing features. I know what you might be thinking, blah,blah, blah... BUT I'M SERIOUS GODDAMMIT!

Well if i tell you it's pretty simple but im working on the zoom stuff which i have no idea on how to do..

when pvII is finished it will be on a website of some kind.

speaking of a website, im making a new one but need some graphics Razz there will be pics of some of the new features up there.

yeah codetechs right, plus i shldnt have rote it and got alex xcited Razz
