Dean, I know it's belated, but in your SpongeBobStein review, you say there are 10 levels, but that the worst level is 13. Confused Just thought you should know. Smile

Yeah, and adding to that, there should be a full 21 levels. I couldn't think of any reason why you wouldn't be able to visit the rest.

I just wanted to send a big thanks to Metalor for being in the latest Wolfer Q&A post. Ian has been around the community for a long time and made many great mods. I hope everyone gets to find out a little more about someone else from the community and discover his fantastic mods, either again, or for the first time!

- Fixed the post for Spongebobstein, looks like I forgot to update the details from my template! Confused

I always enjoy reading the interviews, very informative both about the person and his approach to modding. Smile

I'm looking for another contributor at the blog and was wonering if anyone was interested in joining the team? I did extend an offer to someone a couple months back but haven't from them so thinking they may not be interested (if you still are, let me know, the offer still stands!)

What I'm looking for is someone that can do a review/interview/post about anything Wolf related at least once per month. I post each Wednesday so they will need to post on a Sunday or Monday or something like that so we don't cut off each others posts too quickly. Prefereable have used a blog before (I used blogger) but a basic understanding will help, and someone who has at least half decent English skills in spelling, sentance/paragraph structure and can write in an instructive and informative way.

You will be open to write about what you want, although I prefer we don't double up, unless we specifically plan to (I'll explain more to the successful party) and plans to stick around the community for a while and be able to contribute on an ongoing basis. I will list links to your mods and websites (if you have released any) permenently at the blog and give you full admin rights to do everything I can. If you've been in the community a day, I like your enthusiasm, and no offence, but please don't bother asking, I need someone with some Wolf 3d experience as well, prefereably someone that has been here a while, has played, made, coded, mapped or been a part of the community for a bit. (I just find it helps a lot when writing about/rating/reviewing mods etc.)

I'm happy for someone to do their own thing but I'd like to keep the same design conformaty and basic post structure just as it makes things easier for the long term readers visually. You won't need to run your posts by me as long as there's nothing offensive or anything in them.

This does not mean in anyway that I'll be cutting back or not doing my posts, I just feel things work a little better with some different perspectives and ideas for the reader than just mine all the time. If you are interested please PM me (either here or elsewhere you know I visit) and we'll see what comes of it all. Thanks

If you are interested and aren't too familiar with the blog then click on the link in my signature and have a look at the sort of thing we do.

Just thought I'd revive this thread, as I'm thinking about doing an article again sometime soon (seems about time, since I've only done like one a year so far). Anyone here familiar with "Wolfenstein RPG" for mobile devices? Or ever played the original game on mobile format? I'm considering doing reviews of those things. Dean, if you wouldn't mind messaging me the login info for the blog at some point, I'll make an effort to post something.

Yes, I played the first Wolfenstein RPG for a Verizon Phone. It was very good, but it would've been way cooler to have been able to just shoot things and not deal with RPG elements.

Your login will be the email address you used to join plus the password you created at the time. If you can't remember the password I believe there's a reminder or password reset section that you can send to your email account.

Be great to have you post something else, i really enjoyed your SNES Wolf 3d review! Smile

Thanks, Dean, looking forward to writing something! And being an RPG fan, I did enjoy Wolf RPG, but I can see where fans of traditional FPS games might not like it. I'll share more on my personal thoughts in the review though. As for my last review, I'll to link it here: http://deans-wolf-blog.blogspot.com/2011/09/why-i-love-snes-wolf3d.html?m=1

Thanks, reading it now.

Yes, the game was very fun, and even though I wish it was just a FPS minus the RPG elements, it still all worked very well.

I agree with most of what you say in the review. But while the visibility of the sprites was a major problem for me, the framerate was always my biggest gripe. You can't aim at anyone from a distance because the game is skipping too many frames. The only time I found it practical to aim at an enemy was when they were right in front of my face. In my 80286 days, I corrected this problem in the DOS version by shrinking the window size. But no such option exists in the SNES port.

I like the review a lot. I own the SNES version. In Germany, they made the blood green instead of sweat. I'm guessing this is to make it seem like all the characters were aliens/mutants, but as you said, everyone already knew it was Nazis, including the Germans. There's an alpha/beta version with some slightly different graphics.

Glad I'm not the only one who liked it. If you have time, maybe reviews for each console port could be done? Just a suggestion.. Everyone says the 3DO version is the best, but I'm not quite sure, though this is a whole other conversation.

I've only ever played the SNES and PC versions, as well as a mobile adaptation, so I can't really speak to how good those others are. Interesting topic idea, though. I think I'll touch on the mobile versions in my next review, for those who aren't familiar with them...

Thanks, I hope to contribute a little more frequently in the future!

I didn't mention this in the review, but it's worth noting that Wolf RPG is a prequel to Doom II RPG and also Doom II itself, it also clearly identifies Doomguy as a descendant of BJ, in case there were any doubts. There is a soldier in RPG who helps BJ named Commander Keen. Oh, id Software...

Re: WolfensteinRPG. I have nothing against RPGs; in fact, I really enjoy them. But I suck royally at them. They require a type of thinking I just don't do very well. I don't really know if I could do very well on Wolfenstein RPG. Confused

It doesn't require as much RPG savvy as games like Final Fantasy or others of the genre. I do think id knew Wolf fans might be interested in the game but have no RPG experience. There are tie ins to Wolf and Doom that would be lost on someone who hadn't played the FPS games.

Thanks guys. I appreciate Dean giving me the opportunity to contribute, and I'm glad you enjoyed the articles. I dont usually have time to give mods a through playthrough or review, thus I'm never quite sure what to write about!
