These Q&A's are great! Apart from the fact that they're very informative mod-developing wise you also get to know a bit about the wolfer personal-wise, which I think is great. Smile

although it's very rough in Max's Deathtouch, I've always wanted to see a wolf mod incorporate 'camera tilting'. That and the guy driving the truck around was pretty cool.

I completely agree with you there Lozer, they are both very creative ideas and make 'DeathTrigger' to be an interesting play

It's Wednesday where I am so that means it's time for another post!

I was planning on doing a 'feature' post today but the one I'm working on has gotten a lot bigger than I thought it would and I haven't finished it yet, so I have posted a mod review instead. It's on Michael Collin's (Dr. Chainsaw) mod 'Hitler's Ark'.

You can read it at my blog which you can access by clicking on the link in my signature.

Very nice post, though there seems to be one E1L1 remake that is forgotten: from MCS' Wolfenstein Collection. I always thought that was a really cool remake with the destroyed walls that lead you into the original level 1. Smile

Probably, MCS' remake just came to mind because that is one of the first E1L1 remakes I've played, and for a while I thought it was the coolest level ever made. Mr Green I've been wanting to remake it myself too, although perhaps I should remake level 2 or 3 just for originality's sake. Laughing

Thanks for pointing that one out Ron. I remembered there was one that either MCS or AReyeP did but I couldn't remember who or which set. I went through all of AReyeP's old mapsets looking for it, but this explains why I wasn't able to find it.

If anyone else knows of any others please let me know and I'll do a Part 2 if I get a few.

We could do a E1L1 mapset fairly easy where you have to use it as a base. Would be interesting to see what people came up with. It would probably be quicker as a lot of the level is already done.

Ariel, Schabbs & AReyeP check in here semi-regularyl so can nominate their interest here. Maybe Andy might be able to prepare an EXE for us again.

We should probably move any further discussion to it's own thread though.

Dean - In your E1L1 review, a number of map screenshots show maps with lines of orange blocks. If you use the MapEdit (with letters) version of the map symbols, these should spell out text.

Thanks Tricob, I am aware of this but seeing I don't use MapEdit for mod making, mapping or anything I find it not really worth it just for the odd screenshot.

I always enjoy reading your reviews Dean, however I'm a little confused by the final scores you give some mods.

For instance, the two lowest scores you've given were 5 and 5.5 IIRC. Reading the actual reviews for these mods. You had basically nothing good to say about them; I would have thought that based off what you wrote about them, that they would have gotten lower scores.

Do you divide the 10 points equally between certain areas; say 2 points for stability, 2 points for a consistent theme where everything fits together, 2 points for game play, 2 points for level design etc etc, which would perhaps explain where the 5 came from?

Thanks for reading Vermil.

To answer your question, there's no democratic way that I rate the mods, it's just a feeling of what I think is a fair rating based on a number of factors at the time of playing that include; the effort put in by the creator, the look and feel of the mod, the mapping and gameplay, and lastly, my enjoyment of it. There's is no rating of each section individually to achieve a % score or anything like that.

It's probably going to be rare to see a mod with a 1 or a 2 rating. For starters I have over 1,000 mods in my collection so I'm picking one's I've either heard things about or have played all or parts of before. Those generally seem to be better mods and are talked about for a reason. I also try to mix up the style and types of mods I choose so that I'm not just reviewing the same types of mods each time as well.

Hope that gives you the answers you were looking for Smile

Re: EFCH For SDL. Working on this project has also benefited my "Base Of Operations" code, strangely enough. Dean's mod made changes to the code involving the "PC-13" screen, and I realized that I could have my BoO code do all those changes straight through the "_CUSTOM.H" file. So, I rewrote the code to do just that. I also put in the Pre-Level Intermissions Text as well, which I'd forgotten to do in BoO before. I look forward to seeing what other changes Dean's port will lead me into. Smile

So, I guess I should thank Dean for asking me to port EFCH. Thumbs Up

For some reason my account deactivated and I haven't been able to log in. I tried resetting my password and everything but eventually had to get the re-activation email sent out again. When I logged back in my signature and Avatar were gone and I'm not allowed to re-add them or send PM's yet.

I'll get them back up as soon as I can. Thanks for pointing it out Tricob Smile
