I've been thinking (also developing a new version in kind of secrecy),

I know there's been a lot of debate of different aspects of this game, weapon power (shotgun), enemy speeds and whatnot, but how does it feel now, after all these years. Has anyone ever returned to this after the DOS times? The reason I'm wondering, is that I've been wanting to organize a community mapset for this (no deadline for now) a long time for now, would there be any interest in such a thing?

If possible, it would be nice to have a mapset of around 20 maps or so from this community. Because I really almost feel the whole modding concept was a waste of time. It was made use of, but it seems it was very little value to the community. Has anyone ever played any mapsets in Klooni? I admit Klooni didn't get a lot of mapsets, kudos for Serpens though for being the only third party releasing a set. A lot of people did express interest, but I never saw any mapsets apart from Earth Anomaly that came from a third party.

What do you guys say, would you be up to the task? Mr Green

I - for one - am happy to see Klooni updated for SDL, and reaching a fully-functional state. However, I'm having a little trouble with the weapons. The pistol does not seem to fire repeatedly on my machine, and the pistol's shots - when standing still - don't seem to be any stronger than the punches in Weapon #1. Is anyone else getting this? Confused

You should be able to fire all weapons when holding down the button, though with pistol this will reduce accuracy of the shots, you should see the player starts to grin when this happens. It is possible for a punch to do more damage than the pistol, but without the berserk pack punches aren't that effective. Atleast for me, the pistol kills the regular former human in two shots most of the time. Please try playing with the aim assist by hitting F5, or activating it from the menu, it will significantly improve your aim at close range. I added it as an option because when you're facing cyberdemon or other fast moving monsters with rockets, the aim assist won't lead the target, but aim dead on causing the rockets to miss. By using this quick key F5, you can easily switch it on or off depending on your needs. It is infact implemented the same way as in Doom, meaning if your shot does not hit, it will try to aim a little to the left from your current angle and little to the right to compensate for your aiming inaccuracy just a little. This will make the game a little more fast paced and you don't have to focus that much on aiming, just aim in the general direction and it will hit most of the time.

Hopefully I'll be able to contribute a level here. Earth Anomaly was supposed to be a trilogy plus a Doom II-style sequel, after all, but my inability to bring anything major to completion doomed (no pun intended) my project. I encourage everyone else to participate, too. Klooni really deserves more user created content.

I would participate for a community mapset. I had always intended to do maps for this one - but then other mods and life in general got in the way.

Great, I would definately like to see a map from you in the set. I'm thinking it would operate on the same principle as the latest tribute mod, one map per mapper. Only exception is that we are not going to limit the number of slots available, everyone will get their chance and I think we might call it the Klooni Community Chest in respect to the Doom community. Smile

Sure, I'd have a go, as long as there was a bit of a time frame to get the map done. I don't mean like months or something just as long as it's not like 2 weeks or something.

I haven't played much of this to be honest and each time i start I just seem to stop after a few levels but I'd be willing to have a go.

Great, that would be nice to have you in the team as well. There will be enough time to make a map definately, when we get enough commited people, we'll then decide a good timeframe for it. Definately more than two weeks though, I'd say somewhere between 1-2 months is well enough for one map. And trust me I know how life has a tendency to suddenly steal almost all of your time without a warning, so we'll be prepared for those situations.

I've started updating the old modding documents, this will not be the final location for the guide and this is definately not the final version, but if you want, you can watch it as I'm working on it. Also please make suggestions, questions or anything, those are welcome and I think that there will be a FAQ part for the guide as well. I figured to store it online in a web browser format is the only universal way, so what do you think? Keep in mind that this is very old template I'm using.
