AReyeP & MCS have released a new level for End of Destiny as a Xmas present for us all!
If you jump over to their website and read the 'Dec 1' news you can read all about it.

I've played through it and it is briiliant fun and quite challenging. And don't forget to look for some extra fun once you complete the level! Mouth Shut

Neat first level; I completed it in a few hours. I found at least four secrets, but when I finally did locate an elevator, guess what? It said I had 0% secrets altogether! Any way you can get it to tally up your secrets right? Confused

Oops!!! My blue!!! I forgot completely (I've been working with the MMC too long methinks Smile ) that secret pushwalls themselves don't count as secrets in EoD, but invisible objects do!!! I forgot to place any of these objects behind the pushwalls! Will fix today ...

If you look hard enough there are 'special' hidden things to help you beat all of those pesky Ultraclones in the level. Just don't grab everything the first time you see them, scope out the best way to use them first. Cool

Steve, your level design is flawless... excellent work. I always enjoy playing your levels, and these two levels were nice. I thought it was funny on the second level in which the only exit was getting killed by Otto. I kept searching for a god mode artifact but couldn't find any. Smile

That AreyeP.... he's a crafty beggar, isn't he? It was mainly the last couple of Ultraclones on the first level that were giving me the problem, but in the end I just killed one using the [nospoilersgrr!] and ran away from the other one Mr Green

What a great ending to the first level, heh. I was laughing my head off.

The other Untraclone can be killed by using the GodMode that you find a bit earlier. What I did was go into the room where the UltraClone was and as soon as he sees you run away back to where the GodMode sphere is hidden. The counter will start when you pick it up but you will find that he has started to follow you so you should have plenty of time to take him out still, 3 rockets at point-blank range did it for me!

On first level has more than 4 secrets, but I notice something wrong with secret ratio like tricob said, after I played for first time .. Mad

Well, I killed one with Knife Fury and God Mode, then ran real fast to go and kill the other before my Fury ran out. Took like three tries.

Like Tricob, I floored the two Ultraclones with one Knife Fury (and running really fast). Got it first time too Beer

But come to think of it, I forgot to get the rocket launcher entirely. I remember seeing it earlier on, and thinking "I'll go back and find a way in later" but never got 'round to it....must have gotten carried away with the end-of-level surprises I guess!

I actually did find and get the rocket launcher, but I never remembered I had it until I was trying to get through that room with all those SSs. I still died at least five times before I finally got through it.

And although I did try really hard to clobber both bosses with Knife Fury the first try, I just simply didn't know where the !@$%& I was going. Razz

As a lot of you probably already know AReyeP & MCS have another EoD Xmas release containing some new levels. The download can be found here at their site.

I've played through the levels and they are very good and choc full of the usual tricks and traps. As usual, stop and think before you charge on in as there is quite often an easier option to get the job done!

New levels for EoD are always a topic of discussion so please let us all know what you think.

Great work on all the levels AReyeP submitted in 2008. One hint is requested, though - I think it was Level 2, but I found a hidden elevator that required the elevator key, and the locked elevator was guarded by a boss. Anyone found the key to this elevator? Thanks. Smile

Tricob, there is an elevator key......make sure you've downloaded the updated version though (see FOOTNOTE on http://www.areyep.com/RIPandMCS-Newsdesk.html ).

You need to find a secret area that contains a switch in it, this will then reveal a locked door that you can open (Once you've found the key) to grab the elevator key.

I thought these were good challenging levels and especially Level 2 was one to make you think. I hope AReyeP continues to release these each year.

Interesting to hear people still like EoD considering the improvements made to Wolf modding since its release. I've been playing some of the new mod "Absence" by Havoc, and it makes me realise what a vast improvement SDL has made to the game! It truly is a great mod - how I'd like to make a 3rd instalment to the SR/EoD series using this kind of thing. I'll be very interested to see Sonderkommando when it's released as I believe this will raise the bar even higher.

These days time is always my enemy (isn't it everyone's?) EoD looks so dated alongside the new SDL engine though ... seems this old dog will sometime have to find some time to learn some new tricks Smile

I can't agree with you there. I have worked with the SDL engine for a while now, and I've found I've been distancing myself from most 16-bit mods because of how badly they look next to the SDL engine. But - as fate would have it - SDL never made EOD look bad IMO. Smile

Thanks Tricob, but AreYeP and I chatted this morning (about the time Steve posted this), and we have agreed to team up... for 2 mods... I'm doing the code for his... and he's helping with the graphics for mine...

But there are no details yet on either, no release date, no feature list, nothing. It's all in the planning stages right now. But the engine for Both will eventually be available because it will work with many of the same features as the Map of the Month - ie: the control will be with the mapper to make the program do what they want by changing points on the map.

Anyhow... that's all I can say for now.. Who knows... we might even convince MCS to come out of hibernation/retirement?? lol... Just we got to chatting (AreYeP & myself) and we missed the chatting and working on projects together - passing off ideas like the old days... And we've agreed that we both want to continue to chat and return to having fun in the forums... And hopefully it will lead to some interesting mods...

On another note, I can't get the archive for these to work. WinRAR gives the 'Unexpected end of archive' error with the one I downloaded yesterday. Sad

I already test this file with WinRAR like you do, It works fine, sound like you got file corrupted during transfer from AreyeP site.. Please Re-download the file again, or otherwise try to open file with PKZip or WinZip instead.
