Not sure if this belongs in this section of the mapping section. Since I am an old-time Wolfer, I am not sure how many have played my add-ons, but for those who have, its easy to see the Road to Neuschwanstein was by far my best add-on in terms of level design. While Armageddon was certainly more popular, it became that way because of its storyline and originality, not its level design. With Neuschwanstein, I went for that magic and awe that struck us the first time we played Wolfenstein back in 1992, and I think it came pretty close. Still, Neuschwanstein has its flaws. For those who have played Neuschwanstein, in terms of level design, what do you think is its biggest flaws and biggest merits?

I am focusing on level design for my next add-on, Wolfenstein Forever, more than ever before, and I need constructive criticism on where my level design skills could use some work.

From what levels I've played, I liked the overall "feel" of the game and excellent layout of static objects, which never seemed sparse or overdone. But many of the levels seemed too much like touch-ups of Wolf3D's original maps; Level 2 of the mod seemed to combine sequences from E1L2 and E1L4 quite a lot, and I found - without searching - two Pushwalls in Level 3 the first play, since it seemed to rely so much on E1L3's layout.

I realize what you are saying there. I went for an Episode 1 feel throughout the first few levels of the game. It gets more varied once you get passed level 4 and especially level 8. I suggest that if you haven't played past level 8, that you do so.

So far, Wolfenstein Forever has a loose SOD feel, but not to the extent that the first few levels of Neuschwanstein followed Episode 1.
