Ott Vinta! - Wolfenstein 3D Review (English subtitles) - from a 1995 Russian TV show.

Really Angry Gamer - Wolfenstein 3D - kind of absurd (and has some bad language!) A review as done by a complete moron, I guess.

WarioWare DIY Microgame "Wolfenstein" - a silly little game you might play on a handheld device, with a Wolf3d theme and quite annoying music.

EDIT: updated link 2

Not that much ... the live-action clip is from a foreign film; its name is "Downfall", IIRC. As far as I can tell, the Wolf3D sprites were enlarged, and then added to frames of the video using video-editing tools.

This guy has an interesting idea for a mod:

Wolfenstein 3D with levels Catacomb 3D.

Some more Wolf3d-related silliness:

A new one: Pikachu and the Weapon of PWNage 14 - Pikachu in Wolfenstein 3D

An older Russian one: Причина танца Титора, или как он играет в PovarStein | RYTP (Can someone give a general translation what is going on here?)

Another new one that examines the urban legend of Super Noah's Ark 3d's origins: Video Game Mysteries Noah and the Nazis?

I have a few questions about the video: What is the disc he's throwing in the machine, what is the message on the screen after, and why is he placing $100 bills by the computer? And why does his time/score/ammo change at 2:38? Is it some sort of trick/penalty by the kid on the screen (perhaps for actually only getting 20% secret ratio, yet it somehow saying 100%?), and why does the guy become possessed and start making monkey noises to dance music afterwards (does this originate from something else / in reference to something)? And do you know anything about who the kids/characters in the game are (they seem to be from some Russian shows / internet memes of some sort, judging by the related videos).

Also - if it's "pretty stupid", why does it have 44 likes and 0 dislikes? (I guess his audience likes stupid things?) Laughing

What does "Povarstein" mean (specifically Povar). Does it have anything to do with the arrogant baby character?

What kind of things are the enemies saying before they get killed?

What is the message that appears in red on the top of the game completed screen at the end?

When the player spazzes out at the end, is he saying anything coherent?

Thanks for the translations! Now it all makes sense... kind of Laughing (maybe he's throwing in money to "register" ?). I think a mod with cooking and/or in a kitchen environment would be fun, although this looks more like mostly just a 'funny' video hack.

I appears to be a reference to self-fascination; the guy invests money to have someone hack the game for him, and he's so loaded, he has his own money visible in any place he wants. I'll make an educated guess and say this video is supposed to make fun of a Russian celebrity, who shares similar - if not exact - personality traits.

Jack Ryerson (as we know him) is posting playthroughs with commentary of his Chemical Warfare mod. Quite charming!

In this video, he calls the yellow walls the "cornfield" texture. I posted in this YouTube section where the texture originated from (It was not the Lost Episodes like some people think).

Technically, the "cornfield texture" is Id's originally; someone took the blue background from SOD menus, and recolored it yellow.

I'd no idea, but now that you mention it - I kind of connect the two things. I've always been fund of this texture. It's a great companion to the brown weave and the brown concrete from Spear. Something to use in underground installments. WSJ made great usage of this in Coming of the Storm's level 8 - something to remember. 'Cornfield' is an appropriate name... Though in Totengraeber's map data files it's listed as 'yellow cave', and I've also called 'em that. I don't know what the official names are for each wall and texture - I'd be pleased to know what id called their graphics, just so that we have a blueprint of sorts as to where the names originally come from. This also counts for 'The Lost Episodes' - some of the walls are very cubic and not really appropriate for usage in pearls in design when you want to make a map. The stained glass swastika is rather good though, as well as this 'cornfield' thing - oh, and the white lab panels. Don't forget them.

If you have any more nuggets such as this, Tricob, I'd be happy to hear them.

I'd have to see the Lost Levels's graphics to really know; but that texture - as a whole - seems to be the most popular as far as mods are concerned.

But regarding that particular background, it also showed up in Wolf3D as well, though it was recolored Red. Check the sign-on screen of Wolf3D v1.2 and above. You'll see that the background of Wolf3D and SOD are quite comparable.

thanks! like i said in the description of the youtube video, i go by liz ryerson now. which makes my handle here particularly ironic and unfitting (and yeah i did do those "adventures in level design" posts previously linked to from here...unfortunately the accompanying videos are not up anymore). that's part of the reason why i haven't really been around here. ah well =/

i'm still finding my comfort zone doing these, i guess. i'm going to try to talk a lot more about the making of the levels in the next videos. maybe it'll be sort of like Chemical Warfare itself, where the first few levels aren't really too representative of what comes after Wink

Too right. There's also that texture in Project Weltuntergang which is partly recolored gray brick and then this 'cornfield' thing - but it's blue. I'd love to see a purple variation of this. Maybe I'll make one up myself with the help of Merthsoft's recoloring tool.

I always thought this was excellent, and suitable for 'large' mods. Levels 22 and 29 are particularly memorable for me. I also dug level 17, sometimes I had to die and start over again 'cause sometimes the end level trigger didn't work. I'll say it again - your maps have been a huge inspiration for me.

I did try it myself one time, but there's not enough shades of purple in the Wolf3D palette. I did pull off a green variation one time; the green came out a little too bright, as you might expect. Smile
