I'm curious too, a mod set in the Warhammer 40k universe...

Hoping this is not off-topic, but has anyone found any YouTube video of any of the Map of the Month contests, either by Balames87 or anyone else? I've looked a bit but haven't found anything. Just curious...

Cheers,

Ariel

I'm not finding anything as well, so I guess there aren't any videos of the contests.

User that does videos of him playing through Wolf3D mods. It's nice to see someone play somewhat lesser known mods.

Himmler's SS! What a fun mod that was... But I still cannot fathom how he managed to play Project Wolfgeist. It's stinko. But it's great to see so many mods... Can't place that Wolf 3D New Year's Eve thing... Wilwolf is just a VSWAP with creator maps, so I'll fatwa that one... lol... Good stuff. There are playthroughs of mods a-plenty on YouTube - good to see.

Yeah indeed, even the 'smaller' mods get some attention, which is nice to see.

Mutants and pistol-only battles can be a pain in the ass at times... I mean, I still haven't managed to get past the first couple of rooms in The Golden Episodes' E5L1, making it the only episode I haven't played in that particular mod, which is a shame. If there had been more ammo it might had been possible... But again, as with the mutants in the original Wolf, if you sneak up on them, or take them by surprise (aka fire the first shot) they often go down with just one shot. At least that's been my experience. Is it possible? I think so. But it's certainly not a fun play...

Dean did a video showing how to get a jumpstart on E5L1. I didn't even reach E2 yet though. It looks like a really nice addon, but the ammo management and knifing is over the top for my tastes! I try to beat everything on 'I am Death incarnate!' whereas possible. I'm used to Wolf being unforgiving for sloppy play, but TGE requires absolute precision and patience, and I have a supernatural level of patience, but even TGE seemed to surpass it!

Oh yeah, I've been able to do that, the pistol can be a shockingly powerful weapon at times. I started learning how to pistol Mutants when I thought before it was a death sentence thanks to playing some of Dark_wizzie's SHS Hardcore. Sometimes the knife can be very powerful too, I think, but not often. Feel free to call bullshit on me but I'll never forget the time I knifed an SS in an elevator, from the front of course, in just two stabs. The first stab he was on a delayed alert and by the time he could aim his weapon he succumbed to the second stab. I haven't been able to replicate that since.

I also have fond memories of taking down an SS officer with one bullet. I don't know how I did it. This was way back when I first played Schabbs 2000.

I play every mod I can on skill 4 - perhaps I should try a lower skill to get through Episode 5... But I just think it's dishonest... I mean, I can't imagine NOT playing on that skill. That's maybe a disadvantage, with being a mapper and all, having people downloading my sets who either play skills 1, 2 or 3...

Ah my bad.

This is probably not new to most anymore but to anyone that missed it, a very awesome speedrun: Wolfenstein 3D - Speed Run in 0:27:14 ("I Am Death Incarnate" Difficulty) 2013 SDA [PC]

Serious skills that guy. I clenched my teeth hard at the part where he's running around with 1 health. That would actually be a pretty interesting if not outright diabolical mod concept, turning Wolf3D into Hotline Miami.

I saw that earlier this month, wasn't sure what to make of it, but unless it's the low video quality that fog effect looks really convincing!

I've never seen that before, and I've never seen or heard of a mod titled that ever being released. I do really like the ammo counter though (except for the 1000 ammo count!) but it looked great.

Was it just me or did some of that artwork really look very similar to some of DoomJedi's?

Wow! And this was the unreleased version? That's odd... Well, if somebody has it, it must be James Shain. He is still active on the Haven forums, and makes some interesting maps... Raziel has disappeared though, I don't assume he was ever that popular because of his attitude or whatever though I didn't mind it myself. He also had another one called The Ultimate Evil which was pretty good.

I don't know what that is from. but those guards were something I made before I joined the forums for a project that I never finished called DarkWolf. I don't recall who I shared it with, but they must have perpetuated the art out into the net to various people.

The grey gradient faces, black robes, and red trimming is as clear as day.

Wasn't there a user named 'jazzmaster' on this forum? Or was it the Haven? Anyway, I vaguely remember a user by that name. Did you perhaps share it with him?

Sometimes graphics get nicked from threads, even screen shots! I seem to recall an obscure Sandy mod which used guards from Halls of Stonehenge which either weren't released or readily available at that point - and that they were nicked from screen shots, causing the movement to be quite odd. So beware! Watermark stuff, especially good stuff like this.

I remember the rat in Dark Catacombs...it looked like a bumbling, gliding hamster and when you killed it, it just froze and bled! Laughing

Re: Wolf3d For Genesis. The alpha has actually been updated numerous times since this release. With the last version I tried, neither Hans Grosse - nor the Episode 2+ enemies - were enabled. They've released another version since then; I'll have to check it out. Smile
