Another "lost" mod posted by RetroGamerBunny/Atina: Lost Wolf3D Mod: Warlock (2003)

Apparently, MrWolf was a lot busier behind the scenes than most of us knew about! Laughing

And despite what Atina posts in the description, I don't think these were available at M2-Soft. I never saw them in any case.

I'm going to guess that MrWolf is also Nexion.

I know Mr. Wolf made the awesome guards for Operation Letzterschutz which were quite popular back in the day... Swell job... If he really is Nexion I'm surprised he hasn't mentioned it. Either way I think the Mr. Wolf user is still here on DHW.

I don't know, it kind of sounds like it from the description of the Youtube videos... I don't know, I could be talking out of my ass. Which is most likely the case Laughing

I think it's a fair question. That avatar belongs to Atina/Nexion on the Haven forum, and we have never seen any of these projects before... The mind boggles...

It's reasonable to believe that MrWolf has done non-Wolf3D work under a different name. That's usually the right move when you want your work to take a 360 and do something radically different. Perhaps he did so, and then went back to the Wolf department with the new name. That's all the guides I'm going to post about here, though. Be it permanent or not, different people leave the game modding scene for different reasons - it can be just "taking a break" from it all, jumping into a new community with a surprise release they worked on secretly, or taking on a career that demands more secrecy from the outside world.

This one sounds so familiar I thought I had it in my collection, but alas i don't...

I know I've seen this title screen before, this is bugging me as I do remember this one.

For quite some time I have not been thoroughly up to date in terms of what comes out, so sorry if this one is a known -and already discussed- one...

Whiling away on YouTube I found this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfou_qK1MJE&list=UU0Tt1UwGax9N28zkTIP8Z-Q

Did others know about its existence?

Cheers,

I for one have never seen or heard about this... But I can see the author is Hungarian - or the guy who uploaded the video - I don't know... I also remember a Wolf site in Slovak a few years back, I have a feeling that there is some activity we don't know of outside the English-speaking Wolf realm.

There's this Hungarian dude called Officer-Michael John who's been active on the other Wolf3D message board a while ago, but the language barrier made communication very difficult. Among other things, he asked (to no avail) for help with a mod of the same title:

http://wolf3d.darkbb.com/t3159-the-old-relics-write-source

I don't know if they managed to finish the mod anyway or not. A cursory Google search turns up nothing, but I'll try a Hungarian search engine.

Nice find. Thanks for the link. It's interesting to see those old levels again; I realise I've forgotten probably everything about them.

Cheers,

LOL Project Wolfgeist. Why not try something that's actually good... Assassinate Hitler, Operation Hidden Secret, obscure stuff like Bunkersturm etc... It's just the same 30 mods on YouTube methinks...

Here's something I came across, it's not a YouTube video though: http://www.popmatters.com/column/172597-danger-romance-adventure-and-the-health-bar/

This guy passes a screenshot of one of my mods off as "Wolfenstein 3-D, id Software 1992". I think that's interesting... Seeing as the status bar here is gray which it indeed wasn't in the original Wolf.

That's actually not a unique event. I remember coming across another mod which somehow ended up getting named as the original. I can't remember where the said copy even came from. Confused

Not sure this necessarily falls into the category of "interesting", but here's a few I did a few months ago:

There's no way to stab the mutants to death without taking damage ... at least, not in a way that works consistently. There's just too short a time span between when the mutant takes damage - and when he can fire a shot at you. Yes, there is the "enemy trapped at the door entrance" bug, but that only gets you through certain map layouts.

This is possibly not the case in non-PC ports of the game. I honestly haven't tried it, nor have I examined the source of those ports.

Short gameplay with few tips how to beat the game. Watch out for spoilers! =p

Anybody ever seen this one?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpyLxLkLoFk

Sorry if it's already been covered somewhere here or elsewhere; thought I'd post a link as it's not the type of mod you'd normally run into. If anything, it certainly looks different than what's usually on display...

Cheers,

Game Maker huh? It's from this site http://sandbox.yoyogames.com/games/183864-anvilstein-3d-version-1

I have yet to check out any of these but the quality looks to be quite poor.

Yeah Game Maker... the problem is that it is for "anybody" to create a game, so therefore they have "templates", and all FPS look the same, use the same engine etc... And the options are very limited as far as I remember.
The final result is just... "wow I made a game", but it is not meant to be a good game.
